Why Should a Republican Voter Turn Around After Four Years of Being Labled and Give Joe a Chance?

I vote Republican.  I've been called everything from a Nazi to a KKK member for the past four years.  I've been labeled the scum of the earth according to some of your contemporaries based on my voting choice.  Some of you and your contemporaries never understood that it wasn't about embracing Trump, but it was a rejection of overreaching leftist ideas.  But after four years in which I've seen a president taken out of context, heard about Russia for four years, heard how terrible and uneducated we all must be, and have been demonized; but now I'm supposed to pretend like you are my friends and we are going to move forward?  How does that work?  I say Biden won, I don't buy into any conspiracy theory.  Just like I don't think most democrats want to defund the police.  But why, after four years should people like me all of a sudden welcome any olive branch from the same people that were beyond divisive from day one and constantly lumped me into every negative category they could think of?  I honestly ask why?

  • Many of you, especially reading your posts, took some sort of unearned moral stance and just slammed people like me.  Nick names like Trumpsters, treason trumptards, etc etc based all based on some moral ground you claimed to have but did nothing, absolutely nothing to earn.  But all of a sudden felt the need and the right to state your unearned morality to bash and take shots every chance y’all had.  Mob rule is the science behind it, but what now?  Where does this mob go from here?

    You voted for Trump. Period.

"Why should you come over?" Maybe you shouldn't have been on the other side to begin with.

Why do you put yourself on some piedestal, where others have some obligation to "lure" you over like with a kid who doesn't want to finish his/her meal.

You voted for Donald Trump - willingly. Take a minute to think about what inside you made that possible. It's your responsibility. You willingly helped wreck the progress on climate change for four years etc. It's on you. Not on people voting for the other option.

Has nothing to do with mob rule. Don't put the blame or responsibility on someone else for your choices.

Where was the olive branch extended from you to the left for the last 4 years? If the right did not extend one why are you expecting one from the left?

    Don't then. 🤷‍♂️
If it didn't bother you to vote for the guy who mocked the handicapped journalist like a grade-school bully, said "Grab 'em by the p***y", mocked war heroes, and retweeted white supremacists again and again, among so many other indignities...I think you'll be just fine if you don't accept the olive branch.  Life will go on.

It would be nice, for this country to move forward, if we could come together and find the common ground between us normal people and the real Trumpers, but I live in hillbillyland and I've given up the hope that common ground even exists.  These people can't even accept the most basic facts... Coronavirus is real, climate change is real, Biden won, Trump is a liar, and the biggest one is that everything they have in their life they have because of the boogeyman of "socialism" they hate so much but don't understand ... Why should we even be expected to extend the olive branch?  Because we want to heal, that's why.  I don't believe it, there's no healing with people who can't accept reality.

If you accept reality, good, then own your vote and stop whining about people being mean to you about it.  Toughen up snowflake.

I used to vote Republican...and then Donald came along.  Inexcusable to me that anyone could vote for that guy two times.

I will gladly extend the olive branch. But it’s not going to work because right now you’re using boogeyman tactics and I don’t understand how you will ever accept the olive branch when that’s the way you view the other side. You cite “leftist ideas” in a post about accepting Joe Biden. If you think Joe Biden is a “leftist” then I think you’re in for a very rude awakening over the course of the next 25 years or so, because it’s only going to shift further and further left as it always has. And Biden is about as close to the center as I would think anyone on the other side could hope for.

"Some of you and your contemporaries never understood that it wasn't about embracing Trump, but it was a rejection of overreaching leftist ideas. "

I am still laughing at this statement.
So...instead of supporting tax and spend radicals, free education, free healthcare, free choice, reparations, equal rights to all, science based beliefs, or whatever other "overreaching leftist ideas" you can come up with you supported a racist, no tax paying, border closing, global warming denying, science denying, bowing to horseshit ideas created by a 2,000 year old phony book administration.

    Cool.

Do not expect anyone to try and hard sell you on choosing lines in that battle.  You do you and make continue to make your own choices.

Bottom line you are who you vote for.
I agree with HFD from another post somewhere. He said he gave the trump people he knew four years to convince him that you all weren’t bad and sadly after that long time of looking for the good we’ve found none. If you voted for trump you voted to continue racism and white supremacy. Sorry, my (and most dems) moral compasses don’t point that way.

If people can admit that Donald Trump was a terrible idea, does nothing but bring out the worst in us, and basically has shown zero ability or even willingness to lead, then I think a reasonable olive branch can be forged and discussion can be had.  Outside of fringe 'news' sources, the damage this fool is doing is clear as day.

If we are still defending Trump through all this, along with hiding behind boogeymen and conspiracy theories like "radical leftists"... then the bridge is still too far.  Stay with the cletuses.

And not everyone is offering olive branches. I’ve accepted the relationships that have changed and are irreparable.  Had I known their truth about racism, etc., which was hidden for many years, I wouldn’t have bothered with them in the first place.

Hmmm, a thread placing Trump and Biden on the same playing ground. I'm not sure how anyone would even come up with that alternate reality. Biden is by no means perfect and will most likely be an average president, but he at least doesn't seek to divide, name call, play victim, deny science, blatantly lie constantly, spew unfounded conspiracies, treat women like dirt, etc.

I'm sorry, who needs to extend an olive branch here?
    It's a hopeless situation...

And don’t give Biden a chance. Who cares? And if dems are offering olive branches it’s because that’s how we are. The people offering you them probably are hoping you don’t accept it, faking it like all the republicans have done about their disgust for minorities for hundreds of years.

Well your mob marched with guns and tore BLM posters down on Saturday. And my morality was and continues to be EARNED everyday that I don’t act like a republican. And if I have to hear or read what you and the main pig has said and written for four years then yes I have the right to verbally express my opinions as LOUD as possible. I think you made a mistake posting this question because as deaths rise and infections spread because YOUR leader LIED and as more and more legal issues get filed and learned about the legacy of your leader will continue to worsen. Just the fact that your leader didn’t file taxes for ten years should be enough for republicans to hate him...but if grabbing women’s parts isn’t enough to hate him then maybe it’s time you look in the mirror.
I’m done taking bullshit from trump supporters and your playbook you all use for responses.  I call assholes who don’t wear a mask in public what they are....assholes and if they dare say anything back I really get loud - I’m done being politically correct.

You clearly supported and still support an openly racist "president", an openly racist regime with openly racist and xenophobic policies.

When you support a racist in any way shape or form,  including voting,  that makes you a racist as well.

You want an olive branch? How about you stand up and admit how wrong it was to support the most corrupt, the biggest liar, the most homophobic, misogynistic, racist, xenophobic, and anti-american "president" ever.

Now explain how you can openly support such a hideous inhumane person and regime and yet claim support for an openly Liberal Democrat supporting band?
    Seems hypocritical.
