tRumpsters love to talk about leaches on society. Takers that pay no tax yet receive welfare, etc.
If I were advising Biden I would have him hammer the "I can't release my returns because they are under audit" thing 24/7. We know that the IRS has already stated that there is nothing stopping him from releasing returns. If tRump wants to say he can't release them then the first question is "why won't you release the returns that are NOT under audit?" The IRS can only audit open tax years, generally the last three years of returns. The only reason that returns older than three years would be under audit would be if the IRS suspects or is investigating fraud. Biden needs to press him on that and either make him admit that the IRS is examining him for fraud or to prove the NYT wrong and release his returns.Remember the Thomas Nine !! (10/02/2018)

It's more than that. Depreciation would allow you to offset income but it isn't likely going to create massive losses that offset all of your other income. At a minimum it shows that he is NOT successful.OnWis97 said:darwinstheory said:

Depreciation can be manipulated to obtain the best tax advantage. The best tax strategy for tRump would be to pay tax every year and use up the 10%-24% tax brackets and push depreciation forward to offset large income years being taxed at 36% or higher.
That he has those massive losses shows that it is not a planning strategy....he's losing his ass.Remember the Thomas Nine !! (10/02/2018)

yeah, i just don't see this moving the needle even with undecideds. many people, not just republicans, view legal but ethically ambiguous tax evasion as something to be proud of. sure, paying ivanka as a consultant seems shady, but is it illegal? this would likely take down a mayor or city councilor, but the president? more importantly, THIS president?Gern Blansten said:

This will hurt him but not by much. If there are any undecideds out there they might be affected...or it might cause some of his diehards to stay home on Nov 3rd.HughFreakingDillon said:

The Ivanka thing isn't a big deal. He paid her for "consulting" and as long as she picked it up as income on her return it's totally legal.Remember the Thomas Nine !! (10/02/2018)

Guess I need to see this play out a bit, but I'll be disappointed in anyone that isn't upset that Trump pays significantly lower taxes then them.
That said, businesses create jobs and products that lead to income tax and sales tax so I can understand why they should get some tax advantages. But I think we all know this isn't the case we are talking about with trump.hippiemom = goodness0 -
