What's the penalty in NY for falsifying business records?

Vance is investigating whether the Trump Organization falsified business records to conceal hush payments to two women, including pornographic film actress Stormy Daniels, who alleged they had affairs with Trump years ago. Trump has denied those claims.

    Meanwhile, over in the House:

Separately, three House committees have sought bypass the president to obtain his financial records from his longtime accounting firm, Mazars USA, and financial institutions. The committees, all controlled by Democrats, say they are needed to check Trump’s financial disclosures and inform whether conflict-of-interest laws are tough enough.

Lawmakers’ line of investigation is more expansive than the district attorney’s. They have demanded information “about seven business entities, as well as the personal accounts of President Trump, Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, and Ivanka Trump,” according to the brief filed by the president’s private lawyers.

The congressional subpoenas followed testimony from Trump’s former fixer, attorney Michael Cohen, who told lawmakers that Trump had exaggerated his wealth to seek loans. Two committees subpoenaed Capital One and Deutsche Bank as part of their investigation into Russian money laundering and potential foreign influence involving Trump.

Follow the money, from Russia with love and a PTAPE all the way to prison. Traitor. House dems better pursue this after the election and hold him accountable and beat every repub who colluded, enabled, defended and sought to make it no big deal, over the head with it. Repeatedly. Particularly after what they've put Hillary through.

The stupidity that is Team Trump Treason continues unabated. Can we really withstand another seven and a half months of this, if we’re lucky? “For the 1/100 time.......”

We'll see.  There's a lot of anger out there (not that I can tell what they're actually angry about).  The culture war is still going on...there's still sentiment for the civil war.  We're going to have NFL players kneeling this fall (if the NFL happens), which should galvanize some support.  I still think he's probably going to win thanks to voter suppression and the silent majority.  The GOP is still almost entirely with him. I think the jury is still out on whether or not America has been re-made in his image.

Now, if he does lose in November, I'm guessing members of the GOP stand by him the next day.  Why?  Because he'd still be likely to be inaugurated. He's setting that up with his whining about mail-in voting.  Barr would really earn his money if he could get his client a second term after appearing to lose on November 3.  It's possible, at least in a close election.

So, if Biden is inaugurated, then it would get interesting in terms of what the GOP would do.  How their existing official would behave (remember, Moscow Mitch stopped the Garland appointment before we even knew who the nominee would be). If Biden wins and Mitch is re-elected and the Senate retains its GOP majority, Biden would probably never have a SCOTUS nominee appointed.

It would be fascinating to see what type of person they'd run in 2024.  They're pretty much out of reasonable people.  Would they go all in with a Matt Gaetz?  Back to Ivanka or Junior?  Or is there some Romney type that would come up?  Can the GOP totally disavow Trump?  They've been so all-in on him, I think they may have to stay the course on currying white nationalism and law and order.

If we're going to have a one-party system, it's going to be the GOP, not the Dems.  I say that primarily because the GOP still has its eyes on that.

Second part of the ruling is public now.  The House does not get immediate access to them, and that case is sent back to the lower courts to decide separation of powers issues.  The SCOTUS punted on 4th and 1.
That sucks. We were all HOPING that he'd have to show them ASAP. Oh well.

Appealing to straight white males only is a sure fire way to be the minority party for another 40 years. I think you see Moscow Mitchy baby lose, the senate flip to dems and the repub party return to its sensibility by nominating Niki Styxxx in 2024. Gaetz and his ilk are further relegated to obscurity due to less repubs in the house and the party telling them to STFU. The election being stolen? I fully expect it.

I think you're putting too much stock into this Trump dynasty thing. There is no movement, man. His supporters are not the "silent majority." They are the "vocal minority."

If he loses in a landslide, elected republican officials done with him. Losing that large will also cost them the senate as well. Trump is literally destroying this party.

    Gaetz, Ivanka, Jr? hahahahaha.

Yes they can disavow him. It depends, really, on how close the election is....I'm just talking about today. If it were held today he would get absolutely fucking destroyed. Why on earth would they not disavow a guy who they had to spend four years making excuses for and who cost them the senate majority and is also under a CRIMINAL investigation that could result in jail time?

I actually think the Tucker Carlson rumors have some validity to them though.

Is she not a Trumpy?  She might not be as insufferable as Gaetz (he is the worst) but she's licking his boots just like the rest of 'em.  They have a long, long way to go to be separated from Trump.  That cannot happen at least until he and his ilk are out of the White House...and as you point out at the end, they're going to steal their way into make sure that never happens.

But she got out while the getting was good. She did her “at the request of the POTUS I did my patriotic duty” thing but then she saw the shit show from the inside and bailed. She’s not as wedded to Team Trump Treason like Moscow Mitchy Baby, Lindsey Flimsy Flip Flop Faloozy or some of the others are. She’s been pretty quiet since leaving her post. Most others have doubled, tripled and quadrupled down. And they own it. Niki is a Lincoln Project beneficiary.

Nikki Hayley is way more likely to be nominated in '24 than any other people you mentioned....

Probably, if Trump loses this year...but she's spent plenty of time on the Trump Train.

I don't know that I would've voted for him,  but I respect him and could have lived with him.

this is exactly how i feel. looking back i  would not have felt awful if hillary lost the popular vote to him. i could have lived with him. although he has had a few moments of going full wackadoodle the last 3 years, compared to trump he would have been amazing.
