Basically anyone who is not a rock and roll drummer, any jazz drummer pretty much blows away any rock and roll drummer in my book, but that's just my opinion.

Best drummer in any band: Neil Peart

Best drummer in a band I actually LIKE: Stewart Copeland

As a former drummer myself, I really, really want to like Rush because I love watching and listening to Neil Peart. But jeez, that bloody singer gets on my last nerve.

Say what you want about DMB, but Carter Beauford is one INCREDIBLE animal of a drummer. He has a massive drumkit which he completely owns, and is just amazingly good at what he does! Probably my favorite modern drummer.

Yeah he is probably the most impressive modern drummer I can think of, even if you don't like DMB there's no denying he is incredibly talented:

it's how totally effortless he makes it look.

I agree that Stewart Copeland on his own and with the POLICE is certainly one of the best and I'll add him to my list. As for 2.gif THAT was the one thing that drew me to the band back in 1977 HIS VOICE. I don't there's another in R&R.

    Peace

It's impossible for me to pick THE best drummer of all time, but here's a little magic for you:

For me, a tie between Stewart Copeland and Dave Lombardo.

Runners up: Glenn Kotche and Josh Freese.
