My drummer friend Andy is a Bonham FANATIC! His, along with your three thumbs up definitely says something. I'm not sure why I'm not as big a fan except that maybe l like more finesse, a bit less heaviness. (But then, I like Murph, so go figure!)

Anton Fig needs a mention in this thread too. That guy is amazing.
Zack Starkey, too. Puts his old man to shame in the chops department. If hope can grow from dirt like me, it can be done. - EV0 -

No love for Future Man and his Drumitar?
(Although I would rank his brother, Vic, as the best bassist of all time).
6 Grammys for playing the Drumitar!
For straight, I would now list Stewart Copeland and agree with @dankind. Watching some YouTube videos breaking down some of his work was a really cool rabbit hope to go down a few years back. Amazing. The love he receives is the love that is saved0 -
John Bonham
Best drummer I've seen Live: Neil Peart and I'm no big Rush fan. Like some songs but only have 2 of their albums and one was given to me.

My favorite drummers:
Butch Vig - Garbage
Glenn Kotche - Wilco
Josh Freese - Vandals, Devo, Paul Westerberg, Replacements, NIN0 -
Another monster drummer worthy of consideration here is Elvin Jones. His work with John Coltrane was consistently phenomenal.Couldn't find a drum solo with Trane, but you get the idea here:

Carey is my favourite. Then Chamberlin. Lars...he has some cool stuff but doesn't practice enough so is shithouse live. Battery and Spit Out The Bone show what he can do though. Bill Bruford is a good mention, Tomas Haake has some ridiculous stuff. Phil Rudd is a human metronome and Eric Kretz was so good at being behind the beat it sounds like Burt Reynolds from Weekend At Bernie's was on the kit.
My friend recommended Porcupine Tree to me and I've been enjoying it. Gavin Harrison has some massive wraps on him at present, check him out.Stars are suns to other people.

Best drummer in a band I actually LIKE: Stewart Copeland
As a former drummer myself, I really, really want to like Rush because I love watching and listening to Neil Peart. But jeez, that bloody singer gets on my last nerve.
I agree that Stewart Copeland on his own and with the POLICE is certainly one of the best and I'll add him to my list. As forTHAT was the one thing that drew me to the band back in 1977 HIS VOICE. I don't there's another in R&R.

Also it's hard to come up with the BEST drummer of all time. It would be better to say in each musical genre such heavy metal, rock, jazz or r&b.
That said I'll stick with Neil.https://youtu.be/0eNKVf3Qw6M

They are:
Neil Peart
Danny Carey
Clyde Stubblefield
Buddy Rich
and that dude from Iron Maiden, Niko McBrain0 -
Oh yeah and that Ben Thatcher guy from Royal Blood has a tremendous sound coming from his kit too.0
