I'm thinking about filling the Sticky Fingers hole in my vinyl collection, so I'd be interested in how this hits...
See above for the review.  The thing about Sticky is that there is no great version. There original UK is supposed to be the best,  but that will run you serious cash,  and it's allegedly still not great.

So if you don't have a copy at all,  this new one is probably as good as you'll find without spending a ton.  I have an original US and I prefer the reissue from a few years ago.
An improvement over the 80s CBS CD I have is going to be hard to find.

Any experience with the MFSL version?

Hey, I just picked up Human Clay the other day. You like what you like. Own it! :)
Also, didn't realize the GH was getting pressed. Would love to have My Own Prison as I still think that's their best album, but getting a few of those songs on a GH might be the closest I get.

    Nice.  Dig it all.

Is jazz making a big come back, or has it always been big and I never noticed?

I think there have been a lot of high quality reissues from the likes of Blue Note, Columbia, Prestige... recently that have contributed to the upward trend in sales. Analogue Productions and Mobile Fidelity have are also re-releasing great jazz albums.

    Just came in yesterday:
Neil Young - Homegrown 2020 CD Discogs

Some of these I really like (mostly the ones already known).  Some might grow on me.  And some just aren't all that interesting to me.  3 stars out of 5 for me.  Neil was smart passing this up and putting out the hart-to-top Tonight's the Night instead.

I just talked to my dad about this album -- Was it really finished and ready to press? Feels more like a work in process-thing that is not fully realised yet, but scrapped for Tonights the Night? Some stuff sounds like it lacks a bit of finish etc.

It flows a lot better if you skip Florida, that's for sure!
I really like the vibe of it. This version of White Line is fantastic, it's probably my favourite version now (yes, even beating the ragged Glory version with the Horse)

I think it’s always been “big” but it never appealed to my youthful desire for loud and fast music.  I didn’t give Jazz a serious listen until maybe 3-4 years ago, same with bluegrass. Now, I’m a big fan of both. I guess with age I’ve Become more patient with actually listening to the music, the interactions, and to appreciate the musicianship in these styles of music.

I thought the same thing.  Some of these almost sound like demos.  But my understanding is this was basically a fully formed album ready for release.  I wonder if the cut to the bone so deeply that Neil just didn't want to mess with them any further?

Oh, for sure- that acoustic version of "White Line" is great.  But I also think flawed in the same way a few other cuts here are (to me) flawed.  It's almost as though with this mastering of some of these songs, Neil seemed to feel the need to push Robbie Robertson and (in other songs) Levon Helm to the front of the mix to make the listener more aware of the presence of these fine musicians with whom he seldom worked.  I would enjoy these songs much better with a more even mix.  The Helm songs in particular I find irritating- both for having the drums pushed up front as much as they are and for the fact that they are not really very good performances by the otherwise superb Helm.

    But now I'm nit picking, aren't I ?!
