still at work felt it. on first floor though so probably easier to feel. shook pretty good for about 5 seconds. definitely felt it more than the 2011 one. freaky shit though.eeriepadave said:not sure how i didn't feel the one in dover just now.

It's weird how that works. I remember the biggest earthquake I ever felt here, I was at work, and it made me reel across my office when it hit - SUPER alarming. I got under the desk and rode it out, and as soon as it ended I looked up out my office door, and this dude came strolling along the hallway and had absolutely no clue what had happened. We were in the same building, same section of the building, and I felt it so much it almost knocked me off my feet, and he didn't notice a thing. Totally strange.eeriepadave said:not sure how i didn't feel the one in dover just now.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0 -
Hawks, usually it is easier to feel when you get up huger as the building tends to sway. Lived in SoCal for twenty years and lots of quakes.
I didn't feel this at all.The love he receives is the love that is saved0 -

6.0, twelve miles from Lone Pine. Felt it shake here at home. Made my desk chair shake back and forth. I've been fighting vertigo lately anyway so this has got my head spinning a bit!

Ooo the thought of being in one of these terrifies me. I'm glad you're okay @brianlux and hope the vertigo goes away!0

As far as earthquakes themselves go, I have to admit I'm somewhere between slightly jaded of them and very fascinated. On the jaded end of things, I've been through more of them than I can remember, and never so much as lost a dish to breakage- lucky! And as much as they are kind of fun for a second or two, earthquakes always leave my head spinning. So far, for me, experiencing them has just been mostly an interesting but rather uncomfortable experience. On the other hand, what is behind these quakes is really amazing. According a book my wife is reading, the Pacific Plate (which runs elbows with the North American Plate right along our coast line her in the west) moves north about 2" a year. Elsewhere, I've read it moves on average as much as 3 to 4 inches a year. Which means the ground under which I'm sitting right now as I type this was over eleven feet south of here when I was born. That's pretty cool!Whenever this top comes up, I'm always reminded of this great song:

Wow!! I cannot imagine ever getting used to those things.... And I have a hard enough time staying in balance and not running into things as it is!
Fascinating nonetheless.
It's kind if funny how the brain works. After hearing that ^ song my mind immediately took me to this version.
