it was a little earthquake dude. i was in dc 10 years ago...knew this was a quake right away today.
AS IT TURNED OUT YES
but when you are sitting on the 18th floor and the building starts swaying and shaking...you automatically think back to sept 11...not earthquake
right...then a minute later you go to cnn.com to find out what it was and you laugh it off. jeezwww.myspace.com0 -

I work 2 blocks from the White House, and the top floors of the building are rented out by the secret service. I've been through earthquakes in Seattle, but this was longer, and I didn't know what it was. I just hid under my flimsy cubicle shelf. I felt very vunerable. There is no such thing as leftover pizza. it felt stronger to you because of the geography of the area (as compared to the west coast) and it was a shallow quake which makes the quake feel stronger and longer to you0 -

i guess its context... where i live we can hear and feel the army doing their ordnance drills... do we ever think were under attack??? nope we dont... why not?? cause were used to the sound... its familiar to us. and until we do experience an attack the sound of bombs going off will always be a benign experience. an earthquake in NY.. not so familiar... and for some not such a benign experience considering.hear my name

Everything's calm out here in California, aka "earthquake country". I suppose you could say we're having an earthquake vacation. Friends back east say to me, "Aren't you terrifed of earthquakes out there?" I tell them not really, I'm used to them and besides, it's either that or hurricanes or floods or ice storms or volcanoes. It's all about the awesome power of mother nature. Another friend used to say, "I hate the term 'natural disaster'. There are no disasters in nature. There are only human disasters." Agree or not, you have to admit that's thought provoking.
In any case, I truly hope everybody is safe and sound out your way."It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0 -

Tessie the dark dog of questionable heritage threw up a little bit in front of the refrigerator. It may have been the earthquake, some weird thing she tasted in the yard, or that I was exactly 18 minutes late with her evening bowl of kibble.
Definitely one of those, probably.
The other unlost dogs were fine. there is a crack across the hallway/dining room/living room ceiling of my apartment.
it's been there since I moved in 2.5 years ago and the earthquake did not make it much worse, just seemed that this was a good thread to post that in0 -
I think there must have been some advance wave of earthquake activity that caused us to drift slightly out of the channel on Saturday, prompting Mr. Unlost to stare hard at the navigation screen and thus not realize how close were were to the big ass rock.
Damned earthquake.
We'll be sure to mention that in the insurance claim.15 years of sharks 06/30/08 (MA), 05/17/10 (Boston), 09/03/11 (Alpine Valley), 09/04/11 (Alpine Valley), 09/30/12 (Missoula), 07/19/13 (Wrigley), 10/15/13 (Worcester), 10/16/13 (Worcester), 10/25/13 (Hartford), 12/4/13 (Vancouver), 12/6/13 (Seattle), 6/26/14 (Berlin), 6/28/14 (Stockholm), 10/16/14 (Detroit)0
