Gigaton is a masterpiece!

1.5 months in its release and after at least 50 times listening to the new record, I am pretty sure that Gigaton is a fantastic album.
At least the best Pearl Jam release since Yield.
The songwriting, the production, Eddie'*s voice, the artwork - this record is a piece of art.
And it still keeps getting better and better...
There are so many things to discover on Gigaton, there is so much potential.
Only one weak spot (Buckle Up), but eleven great tracks.
Who would have thought they can still deliver an amazing rock song like Quick Escape?
Who imagined them to go so far out of their comfort zone to surprise us with the fantastic DOTC?
Who still had high hopes to get something innovative / surprising and not mostly predictable and generic (like the last two records) in terms of song structure?

I love this album, it already feels like an old friend.
If this is really only part one of a two record release like some are predicting, I absolutely can not wait for Gigaton's brother / sister...

It’s a gift. Didn’t think, especially after the last two, that the band had an album this good left in them. Love that they brought some adventure back into the band and explore new sounds and styles.

Completely agree, cannot remember the last time I listened to a new album so frequently. Love it.

Dude! It can happen. I was on another thread bashing Stone Gossard for writing Buckle Up.
Then it hit me that it's Gigaton's Push Me Pull Me (Yield) or I'm Open (No Code).
IMO these songs are meant as somewhat of an interlude towards the end of the albums. They are moody and self reflective.
They are not meant to be hits or played live a bunch of times.

    Interesting thought...
Although I think this won't work for me.

Anyhow - 11 fantastic songs out of a total of 12 makes a damn great album in my mind.

Brilliant in so many different ways and there's just an ominous but also uplifting edge on almost every song that has been missing for many albums not just the last 2.

I thought those saying this were crazy at first, now I’m starting to agree. I love the songs on Binaural but have never loved it as a whole album.

I'll take Buckle Up over Retrograde. It's not a bad song, but it's the weakest one on there for me.

Otherwise, yes it is an absolute masterpiece!

I haven’t given the album a break since its release and it’s yet to get stale. Weakest track for me is Seven O’Clock but that’s not to say it’s bad necessarily. Not a “bad” song to be found.

Agree almost all around here - love the entire thing so much and have had it on nonstop since it release.  It's funny because there isn't a single song that I'm obsessed with (like an "In Hiding", "In My Tree", "Faithfull", etc.) but the whole thing just pieces together so magically.  I even love "Buckle Up" (I think there will be a big old singalong when Ed sings "Then put your seatbelt on..").  Agree best since Yield.  Alright, now I need to crack a beer and go listen...again.

I’ve been saying this since (roughly) my first few spins.  This is among their best work...

I swear - I’ll go to listen to just any one or two songs and without fail - I always get sucked back in listening to the whole thing.

Truly love it. (Thank you again, PJ)

I’m very happy with the album. But I wouldn’t call it a masterpiece. Probably given it 30 or so listens. The songs I loved right away I still love, maybe even love more. The ones I wasn’t sure about at first haven’t grown on me. id say about half the songs I love and half are just okay. Which still puts it in the discussion for best album since Yield.
Whoever Said may be the best song since Yield.

Biggest compliment I can pay Gigaton is that, almost two months after it was released, it's the album I reach for when I feel like listening to Pearl Jam.

Agreed! Previously that honor went to Avocado for me (those first five tracks and closing two!), but lately it’s been all Gigaton. I’m really enjoying the album. Songs that I wasn’t into at the beginning I now look forward to (Buckle Up, Comes Then Goes, Retrograde).

Such a great album. Thanks PJ!

I seem to be one of the few that love Buckle Up. Sure, it's not a classic, but I like the tenderness of it. It's like a lullaby.
