Reopening states will cause 233,000 more people to die from coronavirus, according to Wharton model
According to the Penn Wharton Budget Model (PWBM), reopening states will result in an additional 233,000 deaths from the virus — even if states don’t reopen at all and with social distancing rules in place. This means that if the states were to reopen, 350,000 people in total would die from coronavirus by the end of June, the study found.

I support the right to protest- that is an important concept of democracy- but I can't understand how foolish these people are putting themselves and others at risk.At the end of hiss daily COVID-19 update today, during the question and answer period Governor Newsom was asked to respond to the protests and he really kept his cool, emphasizing the good work that has been done to flatten the curve in this state, reminding people that this is not a partisan issue, that we're all affected by it. He kept his cool so amazingly well. I would not be able to do that. Newsom is working hard in the best interest of residents of this state. Yet people call him a tyrant and and ego maniac. Where do they get that? They must not be following the updates. I get go damned pissed off by fools who don't practice safe measures around this virus. How the hell can people be so stupid? I don't get it.Yes, Jeff, Huntington Beach and now today on the steps of the state Capitol:0

So 233,000 either way? Doesn’t sound like it’s the result of reopening then. They are contradicting their title by saying the same number will die if we reopen or not.0 -

There is also a professional ego aspect to this. You can find a doctor or scientist to take pretty much any angle and happily deliver it with confidence. Talking to one of the Oxford researchers? "We have seen AMAZING results and I am CONFIDENT we will hit every endpoint." Talking to another virologist? "There has YET to be any coronavirus vaccine and I have no doubt these efforts will ultimately FAIL." I'm exaggerating a little obviously, but I don't always trust that a reporter is scrutinizing what they're being told because they view the subject as an expert.0 -
I tell people this story now whenever they want to reopen things or that it's a conspiracy or what have you.
We buried my Aunt at St Josephs cemetery here in Queens last week and one thing I noticed immediately was all the open graves and how many caskets that were being moved around, the line of Hearse's in the entrance.
Never in my life have I seen a cemetery this busy before. It was eerie to see that many graves dug open...
Just because you aren't experiencing what we are here in NY doesn't mean that it's not serious.
I understand that the country is breaking and I don't have an answer for people but there is most definitely bad shit happening and we are in lock down for a reason.0 -

The lockdown protesters? Not in the picture but perhaps it is posssible.
even trump has now acknowledged 2 million could’ve died. Not sure what science exists that past tense is proper but it’s a start for him.
looks like there will be an eventual thinning of the herd. Maybe this is nature’s protection against fake news.0 -

So 233,000 either way? Doesn’t sound like it’s the result of reopening then. They are contradicting their title by saying the same number will die if we reopen or not. That is the only mention of total deaths, it talks about a couple of states and also mentions a partial reopen will kill 46,000, a smaller number than if we stayed closed. So still doesn’t make sense.0
