    Beastie Boys are the GOAT.

    RIP MCA

“Em also admits he didn’t always understand the Beasties’ artistic twists and turns. “When Paul’s Boutique came out, I was one of the fans that didn’t get it,” he says. “It took me years to realize how fucking genius it is. I felt bad for sleeping on it.”
“Obviously, yes, there was something about Licensed to Ill — you had the Zeppelin samples and their vibe. You had Run-DMC, who were so cool, with the attitude of ‘Fuck you if you don’t like us.’ Same as the Beastie Boys. ‘Fuck you. We fucking curse. We spit beer. We throw it on our fucking fans.’ And obviously as they got older their views and things changed, as all of ours do. You can be mad at their shit for not sounding like their last shit, but if it did, then they didn’t grow as artists. Same as me.”

Eminem has some serious skill and at least three great albums but there is soooo much great hip hop that came before.

Love Paul's Boutique, but it took me years to get in to it, then it just clicked.

Anyone who says they loved Paul’s Boutique when it originally dropped , is a liar. It takes its time to reveal its brilliance.

I love all their stuff but To The 5 Boroughs is possibly my favorite with Open Letter To NYC being my most favorite. Get goosebumps thinking about it.

Like Pearl Jam I’m amazed at each album every time I play them.

Watched it last night. Super awesome. Definitely still have to read the book though – so many stories they didn't cover and so much additional cool stuff in there.

wow that was really great. Only problem i had  was it could have been a half hour more. They didn't really discuss the latter parts of their career. No mention of To the 5 Boroughs era whatsoever and barely any mention of Hot Sauce. Other than that it was great.

Agreed. I attended one of the shows they filmed for this in Brooklyn last year and it lasted about 3 hours, so they trimmed it down. Hoping for a future DVD/Blu-ray release with expanded features. They did add some outtakes after the credits too if people didn’t watch all the through.

Fantastic film. Really enjoyed it after seeing the two different incarnations of the stage show.

I didn't get a chance to see the live show last year by me, but I watched this the other night and enjoyed it a lot. The storytelling was sharp and a lot of funny and heartwarming stories.
