I don't think that is the way you want to play it with dummy trumpy. He would like another distraction or enemy.
I wouldn't blame you, though. The love he receives is the love that is saved0 -

None of what we send into France can be sent out of the country, says Mölnlyckes CEO Richard Twomey to Sweden's Radio Ekot.Restrictions in several countriesSome of the masks, which were stopped on March 5, would go on to Italy and Spain where the corona virus has spread widely. But France introduced a rule just a few days earlier that the country has the right to seize products that can be used in the fight against the corona virus.- It's not just in France that products are stuck. It's about a handful of countries, says Jenny Johansson, press officer at Mölnlycke to SVT News West.
This crisis really let the best come out of some countries."Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"0 -
If it makes anyone feel better, it happens within our borders, too. MA had procured 3 million masks and they got seized by the feds. Presumably to go to even hotter spots like NYC? That was the impetus for having the Krafts round up a million on their own (if anyone saw that story).
On one hand, I'm sympathetic to shifting supplies where they're needed immediately. But that requires a lot of agility and trust, as places that are relatively ok today could be brushfires tomorrow. And unfortunately most of us don't have confidence in either of those things as it relates to our current federal government. (You could lump a couple other countries in there, too.)
This seems like an extraordinarily difficult thing to manage and, based on everything I'm reading, we seem to be falling flat on our face.0 -

1ThoughtKnown said:Really its almost hilarious. “We are Republicans and believe in a free market capitalist society! It’s worth what someone will pay for it! No matter where in the world we will sell it/buy it”
Pandemic happens - “That was made in the US and sold to Canada? No way... we need those. You can’t sell those! They have to stay here.”
All if sudden Republicans are lead by a true socialist. All companies are run by the state. He really is getting advice from Putin. Oh yeah and Alex Rodriguez.

People are making them in their garage in who-knows what kind of sanitary conditions to donate them. If we can’t make enough for even ourselves, why would we export any?
If you were behind in your bills and about to lose your house and car due to lack of payments, would you loan a friend money? That doesn’t make you a bad friend if you don’t.
This is really a terrible analogy. The US doesn't own these masks, and they are not lending or giving them to other countries out of the goodness of their little heart. 3M is a multinational corporation that makes products that it sells around the world. The masks destined for Canada were ordered and purchased as per applicable laws and trade agreements, just like the US purchases goods and raw materials from Canada.
Furthermore, 3M only makes about a third of their masks in the US. Trump at this point wants all the masks manufactured in the US, as well as masks manufactured elsewhere. Guess what - some of those other countries don't particularly like these tactics and are already starting to talk about not allowing masks, or other essential products, manufactured there to go to the US, so the US may well end up with fewer masks than you would have if you had just behaved like reasonable, humanitarian minded citizens during a global crisis.
And I don't know if this last bit is true, but I just read that some of the raw materials for the 3M masks made in the US come from Canada. I wonder if they still will.
It's in times of crises like these that true colours really come out.jesus greets me looks just like me ....0 -
