    As to the article (granted, I somewhat skimmed, as it was a difficult read and some terms and references were beyond me), it makes me curious...why does the term matter?  Someone says they're straight, fine.  Bi, gay, whatever - fine.  It doesn't matter to me, just as my romantic or sexual predilections aren't the business of others.

    I'm not sure why the term itself is an issue.
