I would heavily consider doing a Minnesota trip in the fall. I got a buddy in Wisconsin that would meet me. Keep it up. I'm pulling for Minnesota now!bbiggs said:
Keep it up! Eventually it will happen. Hopefully this year.evenflow82 said:Haha, I've been on the 'Play Minnesota' thread since 2011. I will lay off. Maybe I just think I can will them into coming here!0 -

Lived in cali my whole life. But hey what do I no. Lived in s.f and I've been to oakland meny of times. What area are you considering safe.jacquelynca said:
I am serious. You must not be from here or visit SF or Oakland often.Ilovepj47 said:
Your not serious. Oakland is not a place u want to stay. Stay in s.f it's better than oakland. U still have to be careful in s.f as well. Its definately not your family friendly neighborhood.jacquelynca said:
Ya i wouldn’t recommend staying near oracle area. There are however nice areas to stay in Oakland or you can stay in SF and it’s a short train ride awaygotthebottle said:
I have stayed at the motels near arena in the past...pretty sketchy.rummy said:
Thank you for the info. Thinking about flying in for those shows but would prefer to stay in SF.jacquelynca said:rummy said:
Is the Oracle easy to get to from downtown SF?jacquelynca said:
Because it’s roaracle, it’s special to us Bay Area people. I’d prefer oracle to chase center. Also it’s probably cheaper to book.mschostok said:
Didn't the Golden State Warriors just build their new arena in San Fran? Why play in that old arena in Oakland when you can play in the new one in San Fran? Scheduling?JimmyV said:
Yep. Just hop on Dublin/Pleasanton Bart train and it drops you off right in front. In Oakland Piedmont, rock ridge, jack London square area, the area near 19th st Bart station by fox theater off telegraph just off the top of my head. Tons of great restaurants, tap rooms, breweries etcIn sf just stay away from the tenderloin and you’re fine.Your safety is not guaranteed anywhere, however just my personal experience living in the city 10 years (where we started raising our family, yes it is family friendly) and spending lots of time in Oakland (often with my family for As games, warrior parade, Jack London square) I can honestly say i have never felt unsafe. Ya we encounter the occasional tweeker from time to time but that’s usually on Bart 🙈.Post edited by evenflow82 onI've got a fever, and the only prescription is more cowbell.

I'm thinking Quebec City is the right play for me. The drive to NY is about the same, but taking everything else into consideration, would be much more expensive. Would love to have a date for that show locked in.0

Total thread derail! Not sourdough, no- that was just an example to compare to San Fran sourdough. But yep, a lot of old school pizza places as well as bakeries still use starters for their dough- they last indefinitely as long as you feed them everyday with more flour and water. It’s a labor of love for the hardcore- but without a doubt most don’t bother, they use frozen dough balls or just mix it with generic active wet yeast they buyThe Cisco Kid said:RoleModelsinBlood31 said:Water as the reason pizza/dough/bagels etc is a certain way is a myth that has been debunked. It’s not the water, it is airborne yeast cultures that determine reactions within dough, and therefore flavor and since airborne yeast varies by climate/geography/temperature etc, you get different results in your starters when making dough. Think sf sour dough vs ny pizza dough. If you took water from San Fran and tried to make their sourdough in Schenectady ny, you’d only get part of what makes it sourdough. Same reason neopolitan crust tastes different than dough made in Verona- not the water it’s the yeast in the air.Just had to say this because some people who own pizza places and some chef’s actually spend the $$ to “import” water from nyc under the false belief that it’s going to make a difference in their dough. If you took a starter made in nyc and used that continuously going forward to make your dough and kept it alive with your own flour and water, it would be the closest you could get to the real ny deal, although even that would eventually be affected by the airborne yeast in your area.
Do you think a lot of pizza places still maintain sourdough starters for their pizza?I'm like an opening band for your mom.0 -

Has MSP been shot down yet? I'm not traveling to Wrigley again so soon, so either that or maybe Winnipeg would be it for me.0
