    The State Department’s inspector general is expected to brief staffers from several House and Senate committees on Wednesday afternoon about documents obtained from the department’s Office of the Legal Adviser concerning documents related to the State Department and Ukraine, sources familiar with the planned briefing told ABC News.

    Details of the briefing, expected to be conducted by Steve Linick, the inspector general at State, remain unknown. Linick is expected to meet with congressional staff in a secure location on Capitol Hill.

    Timing is everything. It’s been reported on going back a month or two. This is really where the shizzy hits the fan. Evidence the Secretary of Treasury, with or without the direction of Team Trump Treason, interfering with long standing IRS audit department policies and procedures to delay or quash an audits findings and share them with the house, as requested and as the law requires. The “why” of why they quashed it is where Team Trump Treason goes to prison. The whistle blower and house oversight are probably negotiating the best way to release the nefarious doings without violating the law and procedure. Tax return information is not generally available to the public.

Since a call memo and whistleblower's complaint supporting that claim came out, his supporters have been making a concerted effort to downplay, dismiss, or deflect the allegations, as Robert Jeffress, a Baptist pastor and Fox News host, did on Sunday. In a lengthy tweet thread, Trump quoted Jeffress's defense of him, apparently adding his own thoughts in parentheses.

    Jeffress, an early supporter of Trump's presidential campaign, has a long history as a culture war figure, claiming Islam is "a religion that promotes pedophilia," calling the Supreme Court decision legalizing same-sex marriage "the greatest, most historic, landmark blunder in the history of the United States Supreme Court," and declaring that God allowed the September 11 terrorist attacks because of abortion. Right Wing Watch reported that Jeffress appeared at an event in Tennessee this past weekend and said, "There is no such thing as a separation of church and state in the Constitution." He added, "We have allowed the secularists, the atheists, the humanists to hijack our Constitution and pervert it into something our forefathers never intended."

    Trump's tweets warning of a Evangelical-led civil war resonated in one particular corner. The Oath Keepers, a right-wing, anti-government militia, retweeted Trump, saying, "This whole thread is important to read. The term 'civil war' is increasingly on people’s tongue. And not just 'cold civil war'—full-blown 'hot' civil war. Fact is patriots consider the left to be domestic enemies of the Constitution bent on the destruction of the Republic."

    In a follow-up tweet, Oath Keepers leader Stewart Rhodes wrote, "Here’s the money quote from that thread. This is the truth. This is where we are. We ARE on the verge of a HOT civil war. Like in 1859. That’s where we are. And the Right has ZERO trust or respect for anything the left is doing. We see THEM as illegitimate too."

    The Oath Keepers have vowed to come to Trump's aid before. Shortly before the 2016 election, when most polls predicted him losing to Hillary Clinton, Trump declared that the only way he would lose is if there were massive voter fraud, and he called on his supporters to police their polling locations. As Vox reported at the time, the group issued a "call to action" for its members to "help prevent criminal vote fraud and attempted criminal voter intimidation on election day."

    But while Trump is still beloved by far-right figures like Jeffress and Rhodes, his seeming endorsement of a call to civil war is alienating to some relatively moderate Republicans. Congressman Adam Kinzinger of Illinois tweeted, "I have visited nations ravaged by civil war. @realDonaldTrump I have never imagined such a quote to be repeated by a President. This is beyond repugnant."
