Maybe I've just become hesitant on how I think many others will see this...

Trump's language is the perfect way to say something without coming right out and saying it.  How does an idiot like him have that ability?  Is it purposeful or is he so stupid and incoherent that it's hard to use his words against him?

I'm concerned that many will say..."It doesn't say anything about $ or aid"..and completely bypass the fact fact that regardless, he asked another country to probe into a political rival.
There will be a lot more to go on than just this one transcript though.

  • Question?

Trump blatantly asked another leader of a country to technically meddle in something.  It wasn't based off anything in the US besides the Joe Biden tie to his son, but this has to be illegal to ask a foreign leader to do?  No?!?

Good lord, I'm just as concerned about what the Ukraine president said in that transcript as I am about what Trump said. I wonder how Ukrainians are responding to it?? I mean, unless he's just completely lying to Trump in order to stroke his ridiculous ego, which is possible, he seems to be looking to Trump as a great example of how to do things. Even as some kind of mentor.
Trump is a very clear enemy to those countries that are supposed to be America's allies, and a friend to America's enemies. He makes this clear almost every day, and did it again during that phone call, particularly when it comes to Germany and the EU in general. That makes Trump America's enemy, no? It is very weird to me that so many Americans don't care very much about this.
Finally, I wonder how Putin feels about this transcript?
The Ukraine was invaded by Putin and they annexed Crimea.  Donnie's on team Putin, so why wouldn't he intimidate like a third rate mob boss?  Don Trump thinks he's tough, but he is not.

Nice to see Bill Barr's fingerprints on this though.  Another Barr memo.

The whistleblower is gonna be where the real real comes out.

Impeach the lot of them NOW.
Giuliani's role is pretty crazy too... Do you know how "normal" it is for a President's personal lawyer to be doing shit like this??? Has that kind of thing ever happened before, or is this a first? ... I suppose in the past Presidents and their lawyers might have been a hell of a lot smarter than these yahoos, and we would have known a lot less if anything like this was happening. Anyway.... could Giuliani be charged with something? If so, what? What kinds of protections does he have as the POTUS's personal lawyer?? Any?
This transcript brings up so much questions it's almost blowing my mind, lol.
The fact that it's his personal lawyer & not the White House lawyer is a Trump special.  The White House lawyer doesn't even represent the President,  they represent the office of the President, which is why Trump uses his personal attorneys for this crazy ass shit.  Giuliani has no protection,  he is not an employee of the administration.  Even though he claims he is an envoy of the State Department.  Giuliani has no morals & is a hot mess & is great at creating shiny objects.  Trump & his consigliere Barr will give this blanket immunity (which does not exist)  to Giuliani for Congressional testimony,  but God knows what will come out if his mouth.

Ukraine is just stroking Trump's ego so he can get the Congressionally approved cash & weapons.  They are just trying to not be slaughtered by Putin.

The fact that Trump thinks this is an exoneration shows how much he does  not understand nor care to understand his actual abilities as President. He just doesn't care. And he believes he can do what he wants,  he has been acting this way his entire life & has never had consequences.

Barr, Pompeo & others should be up for  impeachment,  & Barr should recuse.  But he won't because everything that is supposed to protect separation of powers & our  democracy has been trampled upon by Trump & his administration. Yes,  it is absolutely unprecedented & in two years & 9 months he has turned abuse of power into a Presidential right.

There may be laws that have been broken,  I can't enumerate them all because we are living in insanity.

Americans do care,  excluding his crazy base, there just isn't much we can do. We can march in the streets,  express our outrage,  write letters,  organize & vote. But Trump doesn't care. Unless he is removed from office (which inexplicably has not yet occured) or voted out in 2020, we are powerless to stop him.

Yes, & he did it the day after Mueller testified before Congress about possible Russian collusion,  etc.

I think (hope) Trump will be impeached but I seriously doubt the Republican strong Senate will vote him out.  No president has ever been voted out by the Senate and the Republicans will not vote out one of their own (no matter how much they privately likely wish he wasn't one of their own).  But this should do much to lessen his chance for re-election.  I can live with that!
They need 218 votes in the house to impeach,  they are at 213.

with 235 or so, 218 should be a cake walk.

Streamlining the impeachment process to focus on this one issue makes a lot of sense. It's easy to understand, it's impeachable, and he has admitted being guilty as hell. Going deeper into his many other shady dealings will only muddy the waters.

Yes, I suspect that too - it's almost laughable though, so it's still a bit tough to believe. It's just so blatant and strange... Like some bad movie from the 60s. The way he talks reads like a corny screenplay. SO WEIRD. How is it that this is real life??

I know many Americans do care, but I'm just saying it is so weird to me that so many don't - primarily Trump supporters (there are millions and millions of them), but also many millions more who are just apathetic about it, I think because they just don't want to think about these things in general. It's the ostrich effect that happens when shit really goes sideways. FWIW, I don't think this is a uniquely American reaction (though the cause of it might be). I think most populations under the same circumstances would likely do the same. But anyway, as far as the Trump supporters go, and the Republicans who are 'party firsters', that is just fucked to me. I have to assume they are self-deluded to a point where one might not even be able to consider them competent, which amounts to mass delusion, you know??

I hope they get at least 213.  I still doubt the Senate will vote to remove him though. :-(

The problem with the transcript is that there's still a level of interpretation the Republicans can side step around.  There needs to be something more clear and convincing to turn this bi-partisan.

If you are not convinced by the transcript*, you aren't going to be convinced by anything. This won't be bipartisan.

Typically I think this is something that goes through the State Department. Trump’s early work was to essentially gut the State Dept by just leaving positions vacant. It makes more sense now. He’s carrying out foreign policy with 3rd party private citizens which removes accountability and has been trump’s way of operating for years in order to skirt the law. All of his corrupt shit has someone else carrying out the dirty work and he tries to destroy/avoid any record of communication in order to claim he had no idea what was happening. It’s in all the Interactions with Russians and also with anything Cohen was doing, for example.

So many of Trump's arguments or excuses or explanations about Ukraine have unraveled on him.
Nothing that asshat says makes sense or has any basis in fact. He's a lying liar. #ITMFA
