The next time someone calls Marianne Williamson the spirit rock lady instead of using her name, I'll remember to get outraged.
She has no chance at all of becoming president in 2020 but I sure do like here.  She's smart, compassionate, committed to her beliefs and I think it's cool that she adds some good soulful spirituality to the mix.  Much respect for her.

Presidential candidate Marianne Williamson told AIDS patients that sickness is ‘an illusion’

    https://www.pinknews.co.uk/2019/08/03/presidential-candidate-marianne-williamson-told-aids-patients-sickness-is-an-illusion/

That was a rather dumb thing for her to say but I believe that statement was made in 1980.  Also, she has a large amount of support from the LGBTQ community.

Anyway, I think I'm done with forums for the day.  It seems like here and elsewhere a lot of people ares in a contentious mood.  Say  one thing, someone else refutes it.  It's not just about you S_C, it's all over the internet today.   I know it's the norm for on-line forums, but today I have no desire for it.

Have a nice Sunday all, I'm outta here.
It's okey. I'm gonna put on Comes a Times before sleep.

POLLERCOASTER 2020: HOW TO WIN WISCONSIN

    The poll referenced.

    Interesting stuff in here.

For those that believe the BernieLiz brand of socialism will get to the presidency next year, check out this excerpt relating to WI (a state dem leadership recently told us was part of some supposed blue wall):

"This has given Republicans a 10-point advantage on the question of which party voters trust to handle the economy and jobs, including an 18-point advantage among independents and a 25-point advantage among undecided voters."

Close states like WI will be decided by independents. Go ahead Bernie. Convince them.

"..So yes your candidate might be better on, I don’t know, healthcare than Joe is, but you’ve got to look at who’s going to win this election and maybe you have to swallow a little bit and say ok I personally like so and so better but your bottom line has to be that... ..so if you’re looking at that you’ve got to look at the polls, and you know a lot of the times I say oh you know polls don’t mean anything...but if they’re consistent and if they’re consistently saying the same thing, I think you can’t dismiss that..."

Joe Bidens wife agrees that Joe might not be best candidate , but he's a safe choice.

Let's brake yourselves up a hill.

That isn't what Jill Biden is saying.  You're misunderstanding the nuance of the statement.

    https://www.cnn.com/2019/08/20/politics/cnn-poll-democrats-2020-biden-rebound/index.html

CNN Poll: Joe Biden regains double-digit lead over 2020 Democratic field

WASHINGTON (CNN)Joe Biden has expanded his edge over the Democratic field in a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS, with 29% of Democratic and Democratic-leaning registered voters saying they back the former vice president.

That's up 7 points compared with a late June CNN survey. No other candidate has made meaningful gains over that time.

The shift returns Biden to a double-digit lead over his nearest competitors, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders at 15% and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren at 14%. Their support is largely unchanged since earlier this summer.
Aside from Biden's increase, the only statistically meaningful change in the candidate standings is a 12-point decline in support for California Sen. Kamala Harris, who stood at 17% support in the June poll but now has the backing of 5% of potential Democratic voters. That's similar to the level of support she had in the spring before a surge following her initial debate performance.
Biden's advantage in the poll is boosted by stronger support from self-identified Democrats (31%) than from independents (23%), older voters (34% among those age 45 and older) than younger ones (23% among those under age 45) and from moderate and conservative voters (34%) than liberals (22%).
Among liberals, in fact, the race is a near three-way tie: 23% choose Warren and 22% each back Biden and Sanders. No other candidate even hits 5% among this group.
Biden is also bolstered by those voters who say their top priority is choosing a candidate with a strong chance of beating President Donald Trump, a group that makes up 54% of Democratic and Democratic-leaning registered voters (35% in that group support Biden). That group has shrunk slightly since June, when 61% said defeating Trump outweighed nominating a candidate who "shares your positions on major issues."
While Democrats do not appear sharply divided on this question by ideology (53% of liberals and 57% of moderate or conservative Democratic voters say beating Trump is more important), race (54% among whites and non-whites prioritize beating Trump) or partisanship (52% of self-identified Democrats prioritize beating Trump as do 59% of Democratic-leaning independents), there are notable divisions by age and by education among whites, which highlights the challenge facing candidates when they attempt to appeal to those on both sides of this line.
Among those under age 45, 56% say it's more important to nominate a candidate who shares your positions on issues, while 66% of those age 45 and older say it's more important to nominate someone who can defeat Trump. Among whites without college degrees, 49% say it's more important to nominate someone who shares their view on issues while 45% say beating Trump is more important, but among whites with a college degree, 65% say it's more important to beat Trump.

I'll ride the wave where it takes me......

It's interesting that Harris has taken such a beating after the segregation cheap shot.  I think as it marinated over a few weeks,  people understood that it was dirty and have punished her for it.  Good on the voters.

      Just read this:
      https://www.cnn.com/politics/live-news/cnn-poll-08-20-19/index.html

Kamala Harris couldn't recapture lightning in the second debates

Kamala Harris was off and running after the June debates. She hit 17% in our poll and 20% in Quinnipiac University's poll following her performance on the debate stage in Miami.

Now in our latest polls, Quinnipiac and we have her at 7% and 5% respectively.

The second debate in Detroit didn't cause most of Harris' drop. She was already down to 12% in a late July poll by Quinnipiac.

Still, the California senator seemed to be holding onto some of her first debate bounce coming into the CNN debates. I wrote at the time "why Kamala Harris needs another strong debate." That didn't happen.

Harris is now considerably weaker across the board. She dropped by over 10 points with whites and nonwhites. She declined by 9 points or more with those under the age of 50 as well those aged 50 and older.

Her biggest drop might have been among liberals. She went from 24% in late June to only 4% now.

Harris' decline is seen in other questions too. When asked which candidates they'd like to hear more about, 30% said Harris in late June. That was more than any other candidate. Now, only 18% say they want to hear more about Harris. That's slightly behind Elizabeth Warren, who clocked in at 20%.

For now, the polling puts Harris not in the first or even second tier. She's in a third tier with Pete Buttigieg.

I'll ride the wave where it takes me......

These polls will continue to change.  What this says to me now though, is that if the more liberal parts of the party could settle on 1 candidate (Sanders or Warren), they would have a legit shot at being the front runner now.

It's seems the more moderates have decided to abandon Harris and go all in on Biden.

Yeah I think she got some support after that "busing" stuff in the first debate just for the performance aspect of it all. Grandstanding is what she does best after all.

Gabbard going after her over her record as California's DA might have contributed to her tanking in the polls as well.

why does the left continute to beat up on susan sarandon? I mean, isn't she allowed to support whichever candidate she wants? or is there something I'm missing from this? is it because she is a woman she was "supposed" to support hillary? I mean, come on.

I'm on twitter. occasionally I check to see what's "trending". I don't follow celebrities (just a few musicians), and she was trending yesterday, and it seemed to start with debra messing had tweeted at her "how's that revolution going?" or something like that. And I keep seeing other hateful tweets about her, seemingly simply because she isn't supporting warren this time or clinton last time.

what do you mean by "helpful in the general"? she didn't like clinton. case closed. she wanted bernie, and voted for jill stein. she did say that she thought maybe trump would be better than clinton in that it would "bring on the revolution quicker", in essence, I think what she means by that is a radical swing to the left once everyone sees what trump is about. I can certainly appreciate what she is saying. ultimately, she believes no one person in the white house can cause enough damage to really be concerned (I disagree with her on that). but a lot of people believe in the checks and balances of the system. the big problem, as I see it, is the supreme court. that has immensely long lasting effect.

    • (CNN)The third round of Democratic primary debates, hosted by ABC and Univision, will take place the second week of September. Presidential candidates have until late August to reach polling and grassroots fundraising thresholds set by the Democratic National Committee.

Candidates must receive contributions from at least 130,000 individuals, coming from at least 400 unique donors in 20 or more states. They also need to reach 2% in at least four DNC-approved polls.
So far, 10 candidates have met both thresholds, qualifying them for the debates scheduled for September 12 and 13:
        1. Former Vice President Joe Biden
        2. New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker
        3. Mayor Pete Buttigieg
        4. Former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julián Castro
        5. California Sen. Kamala Harris
        6. Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar
        7. Former Rep. Beto O'Rourke
        8. Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders
        9. Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren
        10. Businessman Andrew Yang

Why is there a funding threshold? What has the money to do with anything?

They have to find a way to weed people out...or they'd have 2,000 candidates at the convention.

What you detailed is my definition of not helpful,  that is not helpful to the Democrat trying to defeat the Republican.
