If your point is about a very specific issue, kidney disease, fine. No problem. If you're talking about bending the cost curve of healthcare in this country, then no, EO is not the way to go about it.EdsonNascimento said:
You know how that works? All an executive order is in this case is to tell a Department of the government (which he oversees) to move toward proposing and implementing rules accordingly. And if you read you’ll notice the most pertinent quotes belong to Seema Verma who is brilliant. So, yeah. A program carefully researched and crafted by his staff (as HHS reports to him) has turned into a directive for them to implement. And you have a problem with that? Better we implement thousands of pages of shit in a vanity project that nobody had the chance to read and consider in depth nor had any chance to do what the purveyor claims it to do?Halifax2TheMax said:

So the solution to the cost curve is executive order, not legislation. That's an interesting take on the role of government. We don't like the bicameral Constitutional process, we like the monarch process.EdsonNascimento said:This is how you bend the cost curve and create better quality of living (and not by simply throwing more money at it - which is a bizarre way to reduce cost in the first place) -

But beside that, ignore the actual action for your preconceived disposition. You’re actually criticizing help with kidney disease and streamlining organ donation. Lol.
So going to the issue at hand - do you disagree with helping people with kidney disease treat their disease more effectively, provide a better quality of life and ultimately save the system money? Or do you think this program won’t do that? Please opine.0

No, and I haven’t read up on the particulars and think it’s premature to assume it’s going to do all the things that you claim. That said, I hope it’s successful but I was taking issue with the general idea of using EOs to get things done, particularly after the intense criticism from Obama’s detractors when the repub house and senate blocked him from pretty much everything and he had to issue EOs to get shit done. Seems this could have been part of a healthcare bill that Team Trump Treason campaigned on being better and cheaper than Obamacare. 9 years on and still no repub alternative other than going to court to kick people off of health insurance. Wonder how effective this EO will be when less folks have health insurance? Let’s check back in a year or two, yes?EdsonNascimento said:

Most of that would not be necessary if the US had a functioning, integrated health care system. You'll notice that the comments are about how to pay for the necessary care and how to revamp an outdated system, not any actual progress in care.EdsonNascimento said:This is how you bend the cost curve and create better quality of living (and not by simply throwing more money at it - which is a bizarre way to reduce cost in the first place) -
