All this nonsense calls for Buford.

    I SAW PEARL JAM
  • I've watched three laps of NASCAR in my life. I was in 11th grade and was picking up my girlfriend who was finishing up watching the Daytona 500 with her family. So I watched along waiting for it to end.

    The first lap was boring.
    The second lap was boring.
On the third lap, Dale Earnhardt died.

Can you imagine that? Never ever watched the sport in my life and when I finally do, one of it's most legendary competitors dies. That's like tuning into your first NBA game and Michael Jordan dies during it. Her family was understandably shell-shocked by this as he was their favorite driver.
    Was that your last date?
Well what have we here? Hmmm....seems like you have a personal vendetta against me to (attempt to) make a joke at my expense like this one. Were you offended when poked fun at how lame your attempts at comedy were with "Troy Acheman" and "Tony Blowmo" in the NFL thread? Or that I think that only a simpleton would think "Team Trump Treason" is something clever to type over and over and over and over again? Did I hurt your feelings, Halifax? Sorry buddy. I know how sensitive your type can be.
“Personal vendetta” because I disagree with you? Please. I assume we’re both adults and I’m sure you can handle my differing of opinions with you. What is this, junior high? And for what it’s worth, I’ll continue with my poetic license, regardless of what you think of my “wit.”
I knew it couldn't just be over with my apology.

Again, I interpreted your "Was that your last date?" question as an insult. So I thought to myself, "Why would he be insulting me?" and all I could come up with was me making fun of your Troy Acheman thing over in the NFL thread. So I thought, "Well, I guess one insult deserves another." Then mrussel1 suggested that's not what you meant....and you confirmed it. So I felt bad for insulting you and apologized.
Apology accepted. Again, I wasn’t bothered by what or how you responded to Troy Acheman. It’s all good.  And for the record, I don’t hold any animus toward anyone for their opinions. Disagree vociferously? Yes. And have a great weekend!

    Thanks for weighing in, Jose.
    Sorry if I overstepped ..
No, no problem at all. I'm just trying to get past this with Halifax because I do feel bad for insulting him when he wasn't insulting me like I thought he was. So when I saw a new response I figured it was him and was curious to see what he was going to say, but it was you.

I think I might have been taken aback by his use of the word "date" in his first post. A typical night for her and I back then was to cruise around, smoke weed, and listen to like Led Zeppelin or something. I suppose you can call that a "date" but I didn't look at it like that and was like "Hey what's the deal here? Is this guy suggesting I've had a date in decades?" lol.

    No I agree

There's a Shoepps audio version that will be around soon, which should be a bit better in quality.  Also, I have excellent video of the entire show that we'll get out with it.

I can see an official release someday too . Similar to that Concert For George Harrison that was put on about a decade ago. Maybe not the whole show...but an album of the highlights. I NEED that Metallica version of All Your Lies in the highest quality possible.

There's a documentary coming.  There was a warning that you may be on film at the arena.  Question is how long before we see it.   Keep an eye on my you tube channel.  I'll post a few things although the Audioslave will be first im sure.  Grohl killed it.

Yeah I saw him singing Show Me How To Live. That was great. With Robert Trujillo on bass! What a show to be at.

I didn't know how to spell Trujillo for that response so I did a quick google search and learned that his full name is
Roberto Agustín Miguel Santiago Samuel Perez de la Santa Concepción Trujillo Veracruz Bautista! James should give him a full intro some day. "Metallica Family! Over here on bass......!"

I have not been to a Nascar race in years, NASCAR race day is a fun day.  And unlike most other sports/concerts/entertainment. NASCAR was not out to nickel and dime you, I used to go to MIS, free parking, bring in your own booze and food and you can leave to go restock as often as you want, the 50 dollar ticket was a good deal in the entertainment world as any.
You can bring your own cooler in!!!

    Love going to NASCAR races!
Last time I went I could.  Love going to NASCAR.  They really know how to treat their fans well.  Do not follow as much since Gordon retired. I do like Gordon as a broadcaster.
Aren't you in Canada?  Is there a race up there?
I'm only 90 minutes from Michigan International Speedway.  But I've seen NASCAR races at Indy and Charlotte.  I have not been in years.

No NASCAR in Canada.  I do not think we even have a track anywhere close to the crowd capacity at the tracks in the US

And what I remember of that race was it was on in the background, he had the lead and I think was going into turn 4 and BAM! The announcers were in total shock. It was surreal. As I watched the replays part of me thought it was deliberate, like he aimed for it and maybe couldn’t deal with retirement. Later it was reported that the turns on that track were banked too high or something and that drivers had complained in the past. I think it was louden, NH, right? Anyway, it’s one of those sports moments you never forget. And I can’t imagine watching that with my girlfriend’s parents while in high school.
Are you referring to Dale Earnhardt's death?  He died on the last lap of the Daytona 500.  I have read articles where there is speculation that he removed his seatbelt.  Some have speculated that he was getting ready to celebrate his son Dale Earnhardt Jr. victory at the very race that took Dale Sr. so long to win.

His seat was from a 1970's chevelle and they didn't have the Hans device.  Both were factors in his death.

Yes, I agree that had a lot to do with it.  But the speculation of him undoing his seatbelt is interesting, makes sense as well.  He finished the last lap of  Daytona 100's of time without any problems, so I could see this as a possibility...no doubt in my mind he was in the celebratory mood at that point.  A car he owned driven by his son just won NASCAR's premier event, most fathers would be getting ready to hop out to celebrate with their son.  Anyways, NASCAR was never the same after Dale's death.  He brought competition to a whole new level.

Can we take all this talk about a “sport” of turning left somewhere else? Maybe to the boring ass way to spend your day forum? Or, the just an excuse to drink beer and have a mullet thread? Perhaps the more ears than teeth discussion?

Hahaha ok. You’ve been going in for quite sometime. Just figured you’d might start a thread about it. After a while, it’s not cool.

I see new posts thinking it might actually be about the thread. You can see how that works right?

My mistake. But Waltrip drove for Dale Earnhardt Senior.  My apologies.

For some reason I though Earnhardt Jr won that race.  Still too bad, Dale Sr. was a great competitor and obviously, a good father never heard a bad think about his kids.

I wouldn't have known that except coincidentally I watched the second half of the espn documentary just recently and it stuck with me that the winning said that the best day of his life turned into the worst so quickly.  Waltrip couldn't understand why Dale wasn't in victory row.

Btw this whole thread derailment is my fault because I posted the redneck with the 3 shaved.  But... we were talking about razors.
