If this wasn't already decided, and we had the option to continue the xmas/holiday single by voting, what would you say?...

Living in Australia, the singles were the only reason I paid for a membership. The shirts never fit and the band doesn't hit WA enough to justify priority access to tickets. A bit of a shame but al things must end I suppose.

I think the issue isn’t what the fans wanted. Everyone wanted a single (despite varying expectations). What people complained about is the delays. But the real issue is that the band decided they didn’t want to do it anymore. Maybe it’s because of the complaints. But the issue isn’t lack of interest on our end.
  • What I would really hope.
#1. It hasn't been a Christmas single in some time, per notifications from the band and Ten Club. The fans need to stop calling it as such.

    #2. With that said:

    $20/$30 Int.
All members get, upon their renewal, a 7" record, advance ticket sales for any shows, forum posting, Ten Club Radio and the usual exclusive contests/items/etc.

Basically, the same as it is now, but make it a truly annual single and have it sent out with the renewal.
Presidential Advice from President-Elect Mike McCready: "Are you getting something out of this all encompassing trip?"

Exactly. There used to be updates about delays with production equipment or whatever the reasons were.

    Now? Nothing.

But with the vaults coming out like clockwork these past few years, I suppose the writing was on the wall.

That’s a great way to put it, Tim! Always the voice of reason. I voted no but that’s based on their recent practice of being two years late. If they could’ve delivered on time I’d have been more than happy to continue it.

They could delay it five years if they feel they need to. The delays haven't been a problem for me.

It's tenclubs inability/arrogance when it comes to communication about it to us.

"If we don't keep them updated and being straightforward, there is no delay" or whatever their motto is.

I'll be honest, the delay IS a problem if you paid for it in advance. The situation is still shitty, even now. I hope they deliver what they have to before 2019 ends, and call it a day with this thing, because there's no sense in continuing it if there's no interest (from them). They are not a new band that needs support, they don't need us to pay them in advance for anything.
A given year they feel like doing a single? Good.
A given year they don't feel like it? Good, tell us in advance and change the membership fee accordingly.
That's how it should've always been.

I like the single but I voted no.  No single means less complaining here which is a good thing.

I’m pretty sure they’ve responded to people via email and stated that they’re working on it.  People have posted those emails here.

True.  But at least it will shift to complaints about other topics.  So there’s that I guess.

The single is why I got into the vinyl, they are no longer the crusaders for that cause za that has been obvious for a decade.

Just put a bside you never relased out and everyone would love it, then complain about it, then request it at every show.

You know everyone is gonna shit their pants when the 2018 single with a studio version of Of The Earth hits their mailbox.

Not true. I'm still going to "complain", if by "complain" you mean provide consumer feedback to a business that lacks the ability to effectively communicate with their customer base, and fails to deliver on its obligations. This issue with the holiday single is actually not the root issue. It is just symptomatic of the real problem.

I loved the annual single.  It's sad that its coming to an end.  I hope they have something different planned but it feels like they just aren't into doing the work to put anything out.  The bands focus just doesn't seem to be on PJ anymore other than on new merch and a short tour here and there.  Hopefully they are in the studio together making a kick ass new record.  But who knows?  How close are they to finishing a new record?

I've always been in favor of the Christmas single when it was something I actually wanted to hear more than once rather than just give it one listen and shove in it my box of singles, there to collect dust until I turn to dust.

I imagine we keep complaining until we received the singles from last year and this year :)

What did I want from an Xmas Single?  My favourites were the ones with new material.  Let Me Sleep, Angel, Sonic Reducer, Happy When I'm crying, Drifin', Soldier of Love, Last Kiss, Don't believe in Christmas.... the list keeps going.  I loved those ones.   Given that we have a lifetime supply of live PJ thanks to 18 years of official bootlegs, I wasn't as enthusiastic for the ones that had some live tracks.

I am going to miss them, but it seemed either the 10c's or PJ's hearts weren't into it anymore.   More like a chore than something they wanted to do.   It was a good run.  I'll miss them, but I'm also ok with them being discontinued.

Half those you mentioned are covers. They have always been cover-heavy with the singles, which is the only aspect of the complaints of recent releases I don't understand.

I never minded the delay, they añways arrived, didn't care about the name, doesn't matter if It was xmas, holiday o annual, nevera cared if It was a cover, a live versión, a live cover, a demo, or even an original song, I voted yes cuz I love 45's, the design of the covers, labels, the big whole in the Middleton, it's Bernabéu a good run, though the only reason to be un the club, haven't been over the forum since march, I had to renew in late november and elapsed did it by mid december, almost miss the tee, band don't come oftenoto Argentina, don't have money to go abroad, as long they keep the vault issues I'm staying, since wax was the only reason I joined...
... I am not in the business of being liked anymore ...

I want the final single to be a 30 second jingle about how we should drink more Ovaltine with the B-side being Kars-4-Kids with Boom on lead vocals.

I’m from the camp where this was basically the only reason I was paying for membership. What’s changed is why they stopped doubling up the singles when years were missed - they’ve done that twice way back when. I can’t remember, but did they announce that they’d skip a year but make it up with a double?

They missed 94 and made 95 a double to make up for it. 2001 was also a double and they've done 2 10 inch singles as well
