    Coming next summer!

There are also posts that say “we are coming to the UK next summer,” and “I love Italy”.
Also “plans are being made” for Canada.

  • Gonna force my dad to go. Even though he has been concert-bitter/concert-shy for like 15 years. Wouldn't even go when Patti Smith played here. And he didn't go when Neil Young played here in 2016 at dalhalla. But gonna give him a ticket, and travel wherever Neil might play.

Dalhalla - pretty cool place for concerts

    Yes!!

Zuma saved rock 'n roll for me.  By the early 70's, the great music that had been made up to and maybe through 1970 or '71 had pretty much run it's course and was morphing into music that I won't call "bad", but for me was mostly BORING.  That's when I got into jazz a lot more and pretty much only listened to older rock.  But then in around 1975, while I was working with troubled teens in a detention-like class at a middle school and we played music for a while on Fridays, this one kid brought his copy of Zuma and we put it on the classroom record player and I was blown right out of my teacher's seat.  That kid knew what was up!

A long time favorite for me too!

What's your favourite track(s) from Zuma, Brian?
I love Don't Cry No Tears, Danger Bird, Pardon My Heart, Lookin' For A Love, and Through My Sails the most.

Oh so many!  I love this record so much!  Cortez was my first favorite.  I used to jam along with that one a lot with my guitar.  Danger Bird I always thought was very cool and heavy (not a term I use often).   Pardon My Heart is, well, heartbreaking.  Stupid Girl always reminds me of my first divorce but I love that song (I played it for my ex after we broke up and she though it was about her but I meant it to be like "stupid boy".)  Barstool Blues and great punch.  I love that one too.

Drive Back never quite did it for me and Sails is a fine song but I always thought it was on the wrong album.

Damn how did I forget Barstool Blues, love the way Neil sings in that one.
And also Drive Back, that guitar!
I just got back from my local music retailer. They don't stock Zuma. Wanted to buy a copy along with my White Album.

With Cortez, it's a cool track but I don't get the hype. I don't think it's his best.

On The Beach is definitely a top 5 Neil record for me. Ambulance Blues is such a great tune. Motion Pictures, Walk On, Revolution Blues... it’s a classic.

Zuma is a strange one for me though. I know it’s a great record, and it has a lot of songs I love, but I hardly ever listen to it. It’s not one of the first Neil albums I reach for, so I’m always rediscovering it in a way. Guess that makes me lucky! :)

    Agree with Ambulance Blues.
See the sky about to rain is the song that got me keen on the album, love that one.
On the beach is another great song.
Neil Young actually rates On The Beach as one of his best albums, saw it on Youtube where he talked about his albums.

Rust Never Sleeps is another favourite of mine.
    After the gold rush too.

I had a copy of On The Beach in my hands yesterday in the store.
Might go get it. Wasn't sure because it didn't grab me but I listened to it twice last night and I think I get it and it's grown on me.

Here's a shitty rough demo I recorded a few weeks ago of Heart of Gold....

Let me know what you think.
It was the first time in over a year that I sung or played a guitar.
Very rusty. Plus I just learned the guitar chords before I recorded, plus trying to remember the lyrics.

Neil and Daryl’s home was one of those destroyed in the fires.

Okay, I take it my cover sucks haha.

Anyhow, I could not resist a sale and bought On The Beach, After The Gold Rush, and Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere.

I asked for Zuma as it was not on shelf but they have to import it in :(

Happy birthday Neil. Psyched that he might be returning to Europe next summer. Neil can just take my money for any sort of live gig. Solo, CH or PoTR.

Sorry you lost your house in the fires...
  • Paul has said that the ending of Black Diamond was inspired by Neil Young... I don't really see it?
