Basilg said:You may not like his persona, arrogance, or politics, but to say Bono sucks is ignorant. Seen U2 live many times since 1985 and although now their age shows 100x more than PJ's, U2's catalog, music, lyrics and most definitely live shows were epic. From the stripped down stage and sound of The Unforgettable Fire tour to ZOO TV; which was, for its time, absolutely mind-blowing, they made their shows events. Thought Ed's nod to Bono was pure class. How do you shit on a person who has literally raised hundreds of millions of dollars for AIDS treatment, 3rd world hunger and disease? Thought PJ fans had compassion for other humans. Seems like after the Apple debacle, shitting on U2 became this cool trend.
At the top of their game, being one of 10k fans singing '40' in the streets an hour after the house lights went on/stopping traffic moved you... sent chills thru your core.
If you think this sucks, well..I just don't think you have an open mind to music in general.

I like U2's music. I respect Bono's charitable works.
I also find him to be an insufferable megalomaniac. These things can happen simultaneously. His eminence has yet to show.

Greatest hits show >>>> sloppy show trying to remember chords and lyrics to rare songs
ive seen a lot of shows that would satisfy setlist checklist people but i still rank something like 4/28/03 Spectrum over all of them.0 -

I love the hits. Betterman is a fun song.
Would much rather hear Betterman or EVenflow that than some weird obscure song just to cross it off my list. Most of Lost Dogs I don't like with a few exceptions.
Will never get tired of Y-Led. In fact it is my favorite PJ song.
Why is eBay evil? There is nothing wrong with selling items on eBay, why should someone not get top dollar? (items recently purchased may be different, I understand the frustration seeing items just sold being flipped a day later, but everything else is fair game).0 -

The truth is he has gave hardly any of his fortune to charity, he has asked working class people to reach into their pockets instead when they can ill afford to in today's climate. He has become an even wealthier man due to his "humanitarian" efforts. The band moved all €400million of their earnings out of Ireland to avoid paying tax too, and while I can't fault him for playing the system he has a cheek asking people to help the less fortunate when he's moving money around to avoid doing it himself.
Fuck Bono, santamonious cunt.0 -
- Despite enjoying, via PJ Radio, live PJ shows and random live tunes I very rarely/almost never listen to PJ bootlegs via digital/CD/vinyl formats.
- I'm stingy with revisiting the old albums (which at 5+ years since LB they're all old albums IMO) so as not to wear the treads off the tires
- Johnny Guitar rocks as does Lightning Bolt (album)
- Force of Nature is on my list of least favorite PJ tunes (there's not actually a list but if there was it'd be a short one and also include Evacuation)
- Ames Bros' '18 Lisbon poster is badass
- Proper shows in Nashville, Atlanta, and New Orleans are a decade+ overdue. Oh, wait, wrong thread

I do have to wonder if anyone actually knows how much bono has given to charity himself......its always better when a celebrity doesnt publicize their personal charitable donations0 -

Sirius Billy Joel Channel > PJ Channel
Mainly because when they don't play his own music, his influences and friends are 10x's better than PJ's other than when Ed slips in a Who song. I can listen to their music whenever I want without the channel (not saying that shouldn't be central to the respective channels. Just saying what's the differentiation).
But, also because his descriptions of his influences' music and styles and how he wrote his music is a lot more insightful than what is typically provided by the Boys. Or, maybe it's because of my first point. The Who, Zeppelin, The Kinks and others are just more talented than what PJ are trying to push on their tribe and have a more intricate perspective to describe.Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.0 -
1.) Love Sirens
2.) No outdoor shows
3.) would prefer GA over reserved
4.) Don't understand song chasers.
5.) Although I love most of their covers I don't understand those whom love Crazy Mary so much.
6.) They can keep playing 5-8 songs off of Ten every night and I would think it is great.0 -
lot of Sirens lovers coming out of the closet.
I wondered how that songs got so many streams

Yeah I love Fatal as a song see my post above about song chasers0 -
I skip wishlist .
I love riot act
I love other side and fatal because I have a soul.
I dislike all the pop songs of late.
Dave A is an amazing percussionist .
Stone looks miserable.
I'm done with posters and trading.
Most songs are great live. Except sleeping by myself and just breathe oh and the end.
I won't sit in a seat,rather not go.
And last of all hypocrisy of fans is an annoyance for me.

Alright....this thing has exploded and I missed pages 3-5....so please excuse and duplicates.
Quickly:
-I really liked (loved) Lightning Bolt--the album....and think Lightning Bolt-- the song is one of their best songs played live
-Despite repeated attempts to like them and considering EdVed loves them---I do not like the Who....
-I will be forever scarred mother in law had a golf club mixer in which they had to music related dress up mixer. While most people were dressing up like musicians or fans from the 60's and 70's....She chose Pearl Jam (a band that she knows nothing about other than the fact that I like them) and wore a pearl necklace with a jar of jam affixed to it along with a homemade shirt that involved ironing on the letters to form the words Pearl Jam....along with the fact that she doesn't know the urban dictionary definition of "pearl jam"....frankly it all made me uncomfortable
-I hate people who call Eddie Vedder "EdVed"0
