Welp, that was a waste of a day.  A few things we learned though:

-Kavanaugh will be our newest scotus
-dems didn’t care for Ford at all, other than to use her as a weapon against trumps nomination
-dens looked like a bunch of bullshit artists using weaponized politics to weep their way to delaying an otherwise sure thing
-poor ms Ford will be the forgotten disaster, wasted and used by her depraved party for their own sad loss- at entirely her expense

Not of our government and the politics at play between two shitty parties that aren’t here for us but for themselves.  But yes, for the judicial system and our future because Kavanaugh will be the deciding judge on the bench.  And just like Clarence Thomas who dealt with a smear attempt and has voted farther right since the smear than he ever voted beforehand, be sure that this mockery of the system by the left just caused him to vote right on issues he was in the middle on, and farther right on issues he was right on.
I'm like an opening band for your mom.

Brett Kavanaugh and the Adolescent Aggression of Conservative Masculinity

Photograph by Saul Loeb / Bloomberg / Getty

“I love Kavanaugh’s tone,” Donald Trump, Jr., tweeted fifteen minutes into Brett Kavanaugh’s opening statement in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee. He was referring to the judge’s wildly emotional performance, in which he alternated between shouting, as he blamed the Clintons and the Democrats for conspiring to torpedo his nomination to the Supreme Court, and weeping, as he spoke about the pain that he and his family have experienced in the weeks since accusations of sexual assault against him became public. Kavanaugh choked up and sobbed as he described his father’s detailed calendars, which apparently inspired his own calendar-keeping practice; he seemed unable to gain control over himself, gasping and taking frequent sips of water. The initial impression was of naked emotional vulnerability, but Kavanaugh was setting a tone. Embedded in the histrionics were the unmistakable notes of fury and bullying. Kavanaugh shouted over Dianne Feinstein to complain about the “outrage” of not being allowed to testify earlier; when asked about his drinking, by Sheldon Whitehouse, he replied, “I like beer. You like beer? What do you like to drink, Senator?” with a note of aggressive petulance that is hard to square with his preferred self-image of judicious impartiality and pious Sunday churchgoing. Lindsey Graham eagerly took up the angry-man mantle, using his allotted five minutes of questioning to furiously shout at his Democratic colleagues.

What we are seeing is a model of American conservative masculinity that has become popular in the past few years, one that is directly tied to the loutish, aggressive frat-boy persona that Kavanaugh is purportedly seeking to dissociate himself from. Gone are the days of a terse John Wayne-style stoicism. Now we have Trump, ranting and raving at his rallies; we have Alex Jones, whose habit of screaming and floridly weeping as he spouts his conspiracy theories is a key part of his appeal to his audience. When Kavanaugh is not crying or shouting, he uses a distinctly adolescent tone that might best be described as “talking back.” He does not respond to senators. He negs them. His response, when he is asked about his drinking, is to flip the question and ask the senators how they like their alcohol; his refusal to say whether he would coöperate with an F.B.I. investigation brings to mind a teen-ager stonewalling his parents. If Kavanaugh is trying to convince the public that he could never have been capable, as a teen-ager, of aggression or peer pressure, this is an odd way to go about it.

I think one of the lessons learned here, from watching bits and pieces of both sides the last couple weeks, is how people making false accusations can ruin a person's life and also the integrity of the media.  "I've got one thing I must confess, we try our criminals in the press, justice is a fading light"--Sheryl Crow.   I believe Ford--not sure about the other ladies.  I believe, too, that he could still be forgiven and elected to the Supreme Court.  They just wanted to make a point about how thorough of a background check a candidate of such an important position should have.  They were being tested, in my opinion.  In the end, she had a right to be heard.
Why should anyone be “forgiven” who does not acknowledge responsibility, genuinely apologize and attempt to change their behaviour?
Very true.  It could have nicely been played out like that.  Instead, these people chose to say, his word against hers, and have the viewers at home witness a circus.  They reduced it to childhood behavior of both sides calling the other a liar.  The truth should be somewhere in there.  This is why many are distrusting the media on both sides.

To be honest is I was innocent, I’d have acted a lot like that probably. Though I probably would have just said “F You” to some of those questions.  Of course if I was Ford and telling the truth I would have told the lady asking me question to go fuck herself on an airplane

Did you watch the testimony? You didn't think he was very evasive regarding his drinking? You didn't think he lied when he said Devil's Triangle is like quarters?

I agree.  Its a shame the real truth will never be revealed.  If they could clear it up somehow to the American public that wasted so much time watching, that would be nice.  That would relieve some tension.  It seems to me its a battle to keep the Republicans from taking over the Supreme Court, at all costs.  Again, my heart does go out to people whose lives are ruined and toyed with.  I hope that's not the case here, but us mere civilians will never really know the real truth to these things.  "And when you trust your television, what you get is what you got.  Cause when they own the information, oh, they can bend it all they want"--John Mayer--Waiting on the World to Change

Today’s testimony was not the “media.” Who do you distrust more? The guy refusing an FBI investigation and with everything to gain? Or the women who testified with absolutely nothing to gain but to finally be able to relate what happened to her 36 years ago?

Would you hire anyone like that who behaved that way at a job interview?  Hostile, filled with rage, insulting to many people (especially women).  He was scary AF.
I listened more than watched. But honestly most of the questions asked if both people were really dumb. That’s what you get when senators are asking the questions. Although that lawyer lady wasn’t much better.  I think he was evasive about the drinking but it’s neither here nor there. I like beer.

Its clear he took what trump said about not being tough enough and went uber tough. This whole situation sucks cause someone’s life (or multiple peoples lives) are ruined. I personally don’t see how you can vote him onto the bench. I hope they don’t. And I hope that what he’s accused of, if he is not voted to the court, is true.

Not even interested in taking the bait in here from male conservatives who like that women can be assaulted and the guy doesn’t face any consequences.
unfortunately in realityworld you need this stuff called evidence.  The witch trials ended in the 1600s. I don’t think anyone here is advocating for violence against women or anyone for that matter- absolutely not and that’s weird you would think that.

Unfortunately in the real world republicans don't give a shit about character and won't err on the side of caution and instead will appoint a piece of shit to the highest position in government.

They will shit on women and again shit on them when they overturn Roe v Wade.  That is all they care about.

Republicans love the unborn, hate the born.
