WARNING to all attending tonight (10C tix holders) - no hard ticket is a DISASTER once in Fenway

Just a reminder to the 10C folks that the electronic ticketing needs a hard ticket option.

Once in the venue, you need to make sure your phone does not die and every time you leave your seat for bathroom, beer, just to walk around, or say hello to a friend, etc., you have to go through about 6-7 different layers of security back to your seat - each and every time you have to unlock your phone, bring up the google app, click on the ticket and show it to security...wait....then swipe once more and show the other ticket you have for your +1.  6 DIFFERENT TIMES if you are up front.  And try doing all of that with a ton of fans waiting behind you and 2 drinks in your hand.

Wait, did you miss that??? Correct, if your phone runs out of battery you are fucked.  Amazing

  • Interesting. I didn't have my ticket checked once the entire night. I'm sure it's different section to section.
  • I mean that's kinda on you if you you know your ticket is mobile and you let your phone die... There are plenty of portable charging options these days

I sent a screenshot to my +1 - that cuts down on the scrolling. If you're going to/from your seats, just keep the ticket up. I'm sure it's annoying if you keep closing and launching the app.

I wouldn't agree. I was worried about this exact thing for Wrigley. Tried to get a new battery for my iphone because it literally lasts about 8 hours (if I don't use it at all, a LOT less if its been used). Found out I need an appointment to get a new battery and the wait is a month out.
My only battery charger is huge, about twice the size of the phone and 10 times as heavy. It can charge a phone about 20 times. I didn't feel like i should have to buy a smaller portable charger just for the show, and since we had planned to be out most of the day I didn't want to carry that thing around either.
My option was to just keep my phone on airplane mode unless I had to make a call or text. Almost didnt work for night 2 with the delay. Got separated from my +1 before the delay, so the 30 minutes I was on the phone trying to find her almost killed my entire battery.

Yeah, I could get a smaller portable charger, but If they need to see your tickets, there's no reason they cant do a stamp or something with your section on it, because phones are going to die.

We were on the field so had to show your tickets all the time. They told me to screenshot my ticket and message it to my wife.  I didn't even have to actually send the ticket. It worked perfect the rest of the night

If battery life or any technological issue is a real problem, I'd swing by 10C service on site and see if they can help

Like with any venue event, anywhere on earth, just say hello to your local usher so they remember you on the way back. I had no issues for bathroom/refreshments.

Now, if you want to stroll to the other side of the stadium and back, yes you should have your ticket ready. Charges phones before you head in!

  • no one looked at my ticket because I never had one on me once I got in.  Sign that I didn’t have great tickets.

True, I'm sure there'd be many ways to help or verify.
Getting in on N2 Wrigley I realized I didn't have my ticket in my apple wallet, only my +1 for some reason (I must not have clicked it). When I was trying to log into my account a staffer standing there asked for my name and phone number and he just texted it to me within about 10 seconds.
So if your phone dies I'm sure they can do something about it.

Yes, I got checked once to get onto the field, a second time to get into the A/B/C section, and a third time to get to section A.

  • Definitely not my experience. In fact, it was one of the easiest venue entries and roaming experiences I've ever had. The only downside of these mobile tickets is the lack of a physical ticket that us old timers can keep in a ziploc bag.

I had to show my penis to a guy who claimed he was bathroom security.  I thought it was strange but if it keeps us all safer I understand.

We had turf seats. Had to show the ticket when we first went in of course and once later when we headed back with drinks but not when I came back in a third time after using the restroom. I agree with the comment about being friendly with those checking tickets (ummmmm, not too friendly, like with the bathroom security.....)

No and I’m sure turf seats get checked multiple times and they should. But for OP to generalize this as a 10C ticket issue isn’t completely true. More like a turf seat issue and for good reason.

yea it's weird that some ushers asked if i had the 2nd ticket. i said no and they brushed it off the 2 times i was asked. like...i'm gonna respond with 'i didn't know i needed 2 tickets to go to a concert now' tonight if asked haha. if i buy one or have one transferred to me how would i have 2?! so dumb.

Sounds like a complete overreaction to me. Having a mobile ticket is no different than having a hard ticket. In this day and age everyone should have their phone charged or have a backup option. What happens if you lose your hard ticket? Are you fucked?

"Once in the venue, you need to make sure you do not lose your ticket. You need to show your ticket every time you leave your seat for bathroom, beer, just to walk around, or say hello to a friend, etc., you have to go through about 6-7 different layers of security back to your seat - each and every time you have to reach into your pocket, take out the ticket, and show it to security. 6 DIFFERENT TIMES if you are up front.  And try doing all of that with a ton of fans waiting behind you and 2 drinks in your hand.

    See how silly that sounds?

I dont think your phone dying is the same as losing your ticket. Phone batteries suck, sometimes only last a few hours. I should be expected to keep it charged until I get there, I agree. But why the 5 or 6 hours after I get there in some cases?
But I think if your phone died they'd have a way to help you, so I don't think they'd just say your SOL.

Turf seats and no issues. What sort of issues are you concerned about?
  • I know there would be some differing experiences and opinions (even some battery-save suggestions which is really not the point) – all good.  I know I was not alone out there as I witnessed many that had the same frustrations to varying degrees…..and yes, the closer you are the more layers there are.

But if I need to explain how ridiculous it is that a mobile phone AND a charged battery throughout is a requirement for a pearl jam concert then this thread is over your head. We are not talking about some weird alternative or new approach or technology – we are talking about the ability to PRINT your ticket.  Yes, I put that on the 10Club.

For the vast majority of attendees, the mobile ticketing works fine and is very efficient. For those with challenges, 10C is available to troubleshoot. If someone can't operate within this system, it's basically just stubbornness. I mean some people can't find a will call window, but there's no helping them.
