Very happy with that set. Highlights were Tremor Christ, Black and Present Tense.

This show was amazing. Can’t wait to relive it at house of blues tonight and see what’s in store for tomorrow!  The band was on. Eddie was on. Mike was on. The production value of the show was fantastic. Unbelievable

After waking up this morning and reading some posts on Facebook and here saying the show was not "good" I really needed to take a step back and wonder am I a Pearl Jam fanboy that thinks they can do no wrong? I know how I felt last night during the show and nothing would change that but I broke down the set and am still blown away by it.

Sometimes,Release (amazing version with great crowd support),Low Light(Eddie held that last note forever), Small Town, Corduroy was a phenomenal opening segment and one of the best I have heard. Army Reserve, Amongst the Waves, It's Ok (Still waiting for a crowd to do this tag justice), slow fast Patriot was polished and great. Much better than Chicago's.

I Won't Back Down had amazing crowd interaction. That second time through on the sing along was LOUD. Present Tense in the first encore was great, Tremor Christ out of nowhere. The first encore was the highlight of the show even with JB in there. Taillights > Draw the Line by a country mile too.

Out of My Mind. Wanted this song for ever and never thought I would ever hear it. One of the most amazing concert moments of my life. I get people do not like this song and don't get it but it just clicks with me and it has nothing to do with its rarity. Also only 4 covers played which is a step up from 2016.

Would I have liked them to come on earlier. Yes
Would I have liked more songs. Yes
Was it a great show. Yes
    Great post.

I don’t think anyone really thinks that show wasn’t “good”. It was very good. A lot of treats.

However it wasnt “epic”. That doesn’t mean I/we all didn’t have an epic time, but I don’t think it was epic. They can’t all be right?

ill join in the complaints about the late start. They played plenty of music but when you know 1030 is the end it makes for a bit of an anxiety every minute past 730. Seeing friends and family of the band leisurely stroll by around 745-750 felt like a bit of a kick in the nuts. Seats are in pairs, I too would have liked to enjoy another hour with all my friends before the show. And the stadium was 95% full by 7:15 so it wasn’t a case of “it’s chaos outside people can’t get in we gotta hold out until we fill up.”

Stadiums are getting played out. It’s time to get back to the intimacy and energy of arenas.

Great time. Very interesting setlist, had a ton of fun.

  • I know bands don't take the stage at the time printed on the tickets, but going on nearly 90 minutes after the advertised time was a bit frustrating last night - especially if the late start did in fact cause the show to be abbreviated.

There were elements of greatness in the setlist and throughout the night.  Everyone can feel differently about given songs, I would be glad to never hear Out Of My Mind, which is just a clunker to me.  And although I am a veteran and appreciated the recognition of Senator McCain's passing, Army Reserve is just not that great of a song, especially at a stadium.

Minor complaints, though, and looking forward to more greatness on Tuesday at my 30th show!

They kept the tuned down guitars from Got Some for it.

  • I was in g13 (lousy seats but whatever) and the guys next to me said they were looking out into the blocked off alley behind us and the band was sitting in their cars for a good 20-25 minutes.  Then rolled out into the arena and then came on stage (we could see the police escort just before they came on).

So im not sure what they were doing just sitting in their cars.  But that presumably explains why they weren’t on around 7:30.

Btw the show was fucking great.  Don’t get the hate at all

Pretty sure it was an accident. Got Some was played in a lower key and Stone just jumped straight into DTE. He and Jeff seemed to think it was pretty funny

Is it possible that those guys were on acid and thought 6 teenagers drinking in their old Hondas was Pearl Jam?

Took my dad to his first show last night and we both had a blast!!  Our section was very polite and everyone was singing, dancing and engaged in the experience.  A few brief notes. . . .

Release is always an epic beginning tune.

    Patriot-->Lukin-->Porch was slammin!

Present Tense, Tremor Christ, Blood and Black were the best versions I have personally heard live and I say that being someone who feels that Black often dulls the vibe for me.  My dad loves the song though so I was glad they played it.

Out of My Mind was unexpected.  Not my favorite tune but I appreciate having seen it given the rarity of it

The Buffalo Tom cover was fantastic

I think Tuesday is wide open at this point.  Should be a great time

it's a fragile thing, this life we lead.

  • Gotta say I love this band I made the best of it but flying up from Virginia and laying out for flights and rooms to go to these shows and to be parked right in front of the foul pole and not being able to see unobstructed sucked butt Getting Out of my mind helped but I’d say don’t even sell tickets behind foul pole for ten club members..out whole section couldn’t believe it... night 2 hopefully will be a blow out!

  • Outta my mind is the shit; was even better with a tad more tempo. You're all nuts (just kidding, it's your opinion).
  • Last night’s show was tremendous. Yeah it felt a little cut short and from where I was the guitars were real muddy at time, but they still played 30 songs. What other group of guys in their 50s play this long? It’s the 2nd time I’ve gotten to hear Out of my Mind and it was fucking awesome. And I got to cross It’s OK off my bucket list
And not for nothing, I haven’t been on the forums in a long until the weeks leading up to this show. But it looked to me like a lot of the requests from the forum got played. Army Reserve, Blood, Out of my Mind, Tremor Christ, those are the ones I can remember right now. No one is as good to their fans as these guys imo. And personally I plan on appreciating it until they stop.

Totally agree with getting back to arenas after this tour. The stadium shows since 2013 have been great and being from Boston, I always wanted them to do Fenway...but it’s time to move on after this
  • What other group of guys in their 50s play this long?
I have no problems with the length of the show but many older acts play that long. Springsteen and the E Street Band averaged 4 hours on the 2016 stadium tour. And that’s not a typo. The shows were four hours long and they’re all in their late 60s.

I think Bill Janovitz of Buffalo Tom felt like he was playing the show of his life and it showed. He was amazing. My favorite part of the show. Pearl Jam opened for them back in '91, now PJ brings them on stage at Fenway 27 years later. Now that's complete circle.

Holy shit! Out of My Mind and it sounded great! They scratched 4 songs in the second encore. Thank you so much Eddie for not scratching that one. I was singing my ass off and completely lost it

Unbelievable night that flew right by. Love the start of this show and Release sounded amazing in the number 2 spot. Lots of songs that have not been played much lately thrown in the mix and some great versions of the staples that we all love. Can't wait now to see what Tuesday brings.

Couple of negatives that I need to mention. Crowd in my area was lame and took away from the show a bit. People sitting the whole show not singing along and just standing there. People can do what they want at a concert and it is their show to enjoy it how they want but holy shit at all the stiffs in my section. Second thing is why did the band come on so late? I appreciate them playing past the curfew of course but still unsure why they started as late as they did. Seemed to me a lot of people were in their seats early.
Same same same!! Amazing show, the boys really brought it and were having a great time, but WTF was up with the 10c crowd?? Agree everyone can enjoy the show in their own way but sooo many stiffs. I had a bit of the opposite in my section too - ppl who went from stiffs/sitting down/walking around to SUDDENLY enthused.

Where were the ppl rocking out?? Grandstand looked more bumping.

Either way had an amazing time but had to chime in bc I felt the same. Sec C8.

Maybe it's time for that grump to point out the band causes complacency at many of their shows...in the oldies section.

How excited can those fans be? They get the best seats show after show year after year.

I would agree with you that these seats might actually suck butt.

What's with the graffiti on the foul pole? Fenway maintenance should clean that up. Looks like a cheap gas station stall wall.

Enough with the Springsteen 4 hr shows comment.  He’s an anomaly, oldie act and far from a hard rock band that is shredding his vocals on most songs.  Nobody does it like Pearl Jam. Period.
