    A subpoena may come as a result of Ghouliani’s ridiculous demands to the scope and of wrapping this up by September 1st. It’s clear Team Trump Treason is not interested nor going to sit down with Team Mueller. They’re going political while Team Mueller remains true to his charge, determining if there was criminality.

    Hopefully, Pence would be able to reverse the normalization of presidents acting like buffoonish twitter trolls.  His support would be less cultish and I think the threat of going full authoritarian and eliminating checks and balances almost immediately vanishes.  

    While Pence isn't appreciably better on issues (and is even worse on a few) there's much more at stake right now and the Republic's prognosis would improve immediately after Trump is gone and replaced by Pence.

    I can't say I understand this line of thought, nor all the protests that use that theme as though they're making a really direct point about something. What exactly from Handmaid's Tale are people worried about becoming a reality? Because I really don't think the part about women losing all their rights and the US becoming a true theocracy seems even remotely possible, even if Pence did become POTUS for a couple years. And Remember, there is one very important factor in that story that is the key to the whole thing: fertility dropped to nearly zero. Not only that, but the government in that story came to be via a complete dismantling of the existing system via a coup, and that's obviously not happening just because Pence is POTUS, lol. I understand there are some parallels that we could look at with The Handmaid's Tale, but none anywhere near as direct so that Pence should increase any loosely related concerns, and I'm getting the impression that people are thinking about it a lot more literally than what I'm talking about.
    Anyway, sorry, just my perspective as a massive Margaret Atwood fan, lol. You should all read her Oryx and Crake Trilogy. Those stories probably present a way more realistic possible future!

    So I asked this a few weeks ago: what is trump's watergate?  I still don't see him getting impeached or resigning (hopefully I am wrong).
