    "THE FIELD"
You know I think both of you make good points here.  I do think we need to wait for the report...however all the stuff that has happened leading up to it kinda makes it seem like there won't be a smoking gun.

Probably the 24/7 news and my inability to not pay attention to it that has me concerned.  Lots of breaking new bombshells....that are minor hiccups for Trump.  Trump apparently has some skills and 1 is mirroring the mob...keeping a distance.  He seems like he will be ok...not because he isn't probably guilty of several things...but because he has isolated himself well. We will see if it even gets to Jr or Kushner.
And like the mob, will probably be brought down on financial crimes, which can be tied to him.
Maybe.  But that'll be after he is out of office.
Yes, and that’s where I think it’s going. I don’t see impeachment successfully occurring.
and then maybe he'll get pardoned, depending who is in office if that occurs.
I don't actually care if he gets pardoned.  What matters to me is that (the sooner or better) this whole thing is as disgraced as Nixon.  Right Now Trump is the model for the future of the Presidency.  It needs to be disgraced.  I don't care whether the Trumps go to Prison or to their solid gold palaces, so long as as more of them don't become president (a real possibility).

that's a fair point, actually. disgrace is actually higher on my priority list than actual prison.

All of those “minor hiccups” will accumulate to one massive heart attack once the investigations wrap up. Timing is everything....

Yes, while I would actually like to see them all suffer as well, lol, you've definitely identified what's REALLY important: not allowing what they are doing to be "normalized" in any way, so that people in the future don't keep doing what they're doing, and I don't just mean all the fraud and embezzling and all that shit, but also the political tactics being employed by Trump and friends, the attacks on the media, etc. If that happens, America really could turn into a fascist state of some sort. That is absolutely what I'm most concerned about.

The Mueller probe is going to be a dud as well, unless they indict a family member... the general attitude has been collusion with the Russians and that Trump is beholden to the Kremlin and that just isnt the case it seems... all of this hype by the media and the non-Trump crowd (myself included) set the expectation that he was a russian stooge,  and they just dont have it........

Dems better choose wisely in 2020

    https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/trump-approval-ratings/?ex_cid=rrpromo
His approval rating is down almost 1% since Cohen stuff last week. New Quinnipiac out today actually has it at 38%. Terrible.

His numbers have always fluctuated from all time lowest to almost all time lowest. With the lowest ceiling in polling history (by over 15%) by a country mile.

Horrendous figures for an incumbent who inherited an economy like this.

The messenger is mistaken....but yes, the dems better choose wisely.

it's pretty easy to climb from near the bottom.

I'm not sure why you flaunt this arrogance of everyone else needs to "wake up". I'm pretty sure everyone here is well aware of the dangers of him being reelected. the reason why you see angry posts about Bernie running. there are a scant few that believe he will not finish his first term, or will and won't run in 2020. I honestly don't think either of those things will happen. I think that's more hope than believe.

I wish the democrats would rally together and just pick a team and go with it. fuck the primary which basically causes you to destroy your own candidates running up to the election. obviously THAT is living in dreamland, and I know that.

I don't think everyone is beholden to the idea that trump is a russian asset and that's what will bring him down. that is part of it, but I think most people just think he will eventually be found to have broken a few/many laws and be caught in some type of corruption that he can't recover from.

I personally don't think he's a russian asset. I think he admires Putin and how he operates and has the ultimate fear of his people. same with Un. that's why he cozies up to these assholes. not because he owes them anything. because he is jealous of them.
Dude i read in here daily about resignation, mueller, impeachment, etc, etc,etc from multiple posters.... now that the democrats have thrown cold water on the idea of impeachment people are shifting towards resignation.... now that it appears there is no smoking gun coming out of the bob "walks on water" mueller russian investigation they are shifting towards the SDNY and taxes and porn star payoffs..... the media has driven a red scare and russian hysteria and hyped everything

I have come to realize that he is in until 2021, and longer if we are not careful
I think cold water from the dems is because they need to swing 20 republican senators to get rid of trump. This won’t happen if they keep publicly referencing impeachment while dribbling things out over time. Impeachment reasons all need to be bundled and dropped in one load. So that means waiting on Mueller and gathering documents related to trump crimes in the meantime.

I do agree that dems talking about impeachment is immature before Mueller's findings are even released...it lends credibility to all those who say "they're just coming after him because they lost...waaaaahhhhhhhhh."

When Tlaib said "impeach the mother fucker" everyone freaked out about "mother fucker."  It was the "impeach" that concerned me.  Things take time and that was premature.  Let's say a democrat wins in 2020.  Will the GOP be talking about impeachment from day 1 because a) go Red Team and b) "they did it to Trump?"  That's a near certainty.  Hell; the GOP will always control the Senate and if the dems lost the House in 2022, the president would probably be impeached just for being a dem.  We're going down a dangerous road.

Congress doing their job and holding trump accountable is not a dangerous road. Turning a blind eye is the the dangerous road.
Most of them are not talking about impeachment anyway. Sure there are firecrackers like Talib. But, usually, when you hear that word---it's coming out of a republican's mouth because they want to scare and rally their base.

On the grounds that he's not of sound mind. I personally feel that there is plenty of evidence pointing to that, and that is only what he does publicly. Imagine all the evidence added from behind closed doors.

This was considered a dud by a certain member here reading tea leaves from headlines that said the report was going to be out last week.

    Doh.

he hasn't done anything in public that amounts to anything close to what would be required under the 25th.

if he wasn't of sound mind, he wouldn't be capable of putting a cap on his behaviour simply because he's in public. I doubt he acts any differently at all behind closed doors.

Well whoever wrote that insider's letter to the NYT seemed to think the 25th could be invoked and said that it had been considered, but it hasn't been done because nobody has the balls to do it ....

One letter backed up by 2+ years of observable proof, IMO.

I'd have to read the text of the op-ed again, but I don't recall there being any bombshells or really any concrete details, just a whole lot of potential hyperbole.

and one letter by one person. take any number of bosses, and you will have at least one person who will have a wildly different view of how that person conducts themselves in a professional setting and how competent they are.

one letter by one person amounts to zero.

People like to throw around the “he’s crazy, he’s delusional!” stuff all the time. No, he’s not; he’s a liar, and it’s working out well for him. I don’t see any sign that invoking the 25th has any chance of success.

There is close to zero percent chance of the 25th amendment at this point. The time for that was a couple years ago when more competent people occupied his cabinet....and it was a huge long shot then too. Nothing but yes-men at this point...

agreed. he plays to the audience, which is what he's always done. he's incredibly inexperienced and has no knowledge of how to deal in the political realm. he is going to be a failure as a president but he's an incredible success as a first time politician.

why does it appear there is no smoking gun? he hasn't even released the report yet. it's not like they are going to storm the doors of the oval office and put him in cuffs.

If there was anything major found, it would have been leaked. You honestly think that over 2 years of investigating that Mueller would be able to keep everything under wraps? If there was collusion many people would know about it and someone would have the evidence and be willing to talk.

I've asked this question 100s of times to people, How did Russia make you vote for Trump and would you want to change your vote because of the Russians? Not one person has told me how or yes.

Trump is not getting impeached, hes not resigning. And if the Democrats keep heading down the same road he will get re-elected.
