Saw The Gorillaz show tonight. Tix said rain or shine. It wasn't
thundering or lightning, just rain. I pretty much stood out in the line
for like an hour and half. They let people back around 8:30 or so.
Only caught the last song of the opening act. Gorillaz went on at 9:30
and played until 11. It was a good show, just the way they handled it
was kinda poor. Also they got back probably like 5 songs or so cause of the delay.

I like Humility. I don't like Lake Zurich at all - it's way too repetitive, there is almost nothing to it, and it really bores the shit out of me. Is Lake Zurich even a single from the album? Or is it just a B-side? I'm really hoping for the latter - it would seem very strange to me if that song is on the album, just because it's such a snooze fest. But either way, these releases seem like a good departure from their last album, which mostly sucked IMO.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata
How are their live shows? Thinking about grabbing tix for Chicago. United Center seems like a big venue for these guys. Looks like lots of tickets available, probably grab some closer to day of hopefully on the cheap.
Album's out! It's pretty rad IMO. I'm pleased. I agree with one review I read that called it their least ambitious album, and highly enjoyable. Yes, totally. This album seems much less complex and grandiose compared to usual... but it's got a vibe to it that's upbeat and pleasing. Certainly not their best album or anything, but still, good. There are a couple songs that bore me, like "Sorcererz" and "Lake Zurich" - really repetitive crap for me. But overall it's good.

Just listening to their live album, Demon Days Live at the Manchester Opera House. It's pretty good! It's not totally mind blowing because it is just quite similar to the album, but solid quality. And the last part of it is a departure, and excellent. I've never heard anything live from them before. It makes me want to see their show... but they're not coming to me this tour.
BTW, I just realized what a great album Plastic Beaches is. That one just went totally under my radar at the time, so it's like a new album for me. Sweet.

The Dub vibes were the best. Plus, Albarn's songwriting starting with 13 up through s/t was his strongest period. And the dude has had many amazing periods of songwriting.
New album is up for pre-order, spinets on twitter of new songs sound pretty good. I got the reg vinyl. You can also buy a pass for 3$. Get you access to their live virtual show they're doing in December for 10$. Pretty excited for that!
Wouldn't it be funny if the world ended in 2010, with lots of fire?

Albarn seems to be doing more quantity over quality and its not really working with me.
