Hello everyone! For some of us, he was the "original" drummer. Dave Abbruzzese. The drummer conversation has been a long debated topic among fans, but here at SPT we sincerely like them all for  different reasons. This week we officially start the conversation by discussing the 2nd Dave, talk some Pearl Jam news, return to Pearl Jam Story Time, and give a shout out to our first Patreon supporters. Thanks to Kale Spina for this week's intro, and to Jen Hereth for our Patreon question. Enjoy, nerds!

Please someone explain to me why I just started listening to this podcast. I have a pretty long drive to work everyday, often travel from NYC to Virginia, and do a lot of cardio where I need stuff to keep me distracted. This podcast will entertain me in all these areas for a long time to come.

Love the discussions I’ve heard so far and even when I disagree, I understand where the hosts are coming from and appreciate the thought process. This is what’s great about Pearl Jam and music in general- we all have different ears and brains which make our experiences different.

Thanks to the Brads for providing great content about the best band in the world. I’m trying to kill some time before my 27th and 28th shows (Boston) and this podcast will help me get there.

If you haven’t already, you should talk about their best bootlegs. I have every single one (literally) if you need some help :)

Haven't yet dug into the newest TOTD podcast but can't say enough good things about Brad & Brad and the Single Podcast Theory. As an (almost) lifelong Pearl Jam fan, I love hearing the opinions of fellow fans and listening to the breakdowns of songs and albums. I really liked the Mad Season episode and how you and Brad L. seem to disagree on the greatness of the Above album. Looking forward to hearing how you guys agree/disagree on the Temple album and how you break down each song. Will be listening in the AM. Cheers Brad's!

You know something? I think you're both right for not being all that into Mad Season or TOTD...well one of you is right in one instance and the other of you is right in the other...and, yes, maybe I'm misusing the word "right " here as it's all a matter of personal taste but you get my drift...My point is that although MS and TOTD had a couple cool tunes, they pale in comparison to what PJ (and Soundgarden...and AIC) put out during these times.

With the above said, I guess TOTD was a pretty big deal as they were able to sell out multiple venues (including MSG!) two years ago. Pretty impressive for a one-album-wonder!

^I typed the above post before I listened to the "final thoughts" portion of the TOTD podcast. I meant no disrespect to either of you in terms of "what the album means to you two personally" when I said the music "pales in comparison" to other works by these artists. I can appreciate why these songs meant a lot to you then - or even more so now.

It’s all good, Rummy. I didn’t take it that way because, as much as I like those two albums, I agree with you about PJ and SG.

I find it funny that up until recently, I had no idea that the TOTD album as released BEFORE Ten!
I guess the record companies saw that there was money to be made (or that the fan base was hungry for more) to increase the promotion of the album once Ten got so huge.

Nice shout out to Steven Hyden's book, "Your Favorite Band Is Killing Me."

Oddly enough, he airs my second favourite podcast called Celebration Rock - he's good but lacks the humour that you two embed into your shows. Some of you may remember the series he did a little over a year ago just before PJ was inducted into the RR HoF called "Vitalogy-ology."

I checked out that podcast when it first came out. “Ehhh, I’m good.”  ;)

    Classic BB response.

I just like listening to music podcasts. I suppose I should give that Metallica one you two keep going on about a try...just not really a big fan of their music.

Admittedly, those PJ episodes I mentioned  were directed to the more casual fans. You/we already know too much!
