Radiohead tickets are $90 including fees

Just got tickets to see Radiohead in July and paid $90. Just throwing that out there as general info for those complaining (myself included) about the high ticket prices of PJs shows this Summer.

Don't know the ins and outs of the business but I feel like Radiohead can charge whatever they want for tickets and somehow they're prices have stayed relatively the same over the years and they perform way, way less than Pearl Jam does. I've seen them 5 times over the past 10 years and paid about the same each time $70-$90.

PJ and Radiohead are my two favorite bands. Radiohead plays about 45 minutes to an hour less per show compared to PJ.

  • If Radiohead is worth $90, then Pearl Jam is worth about $2000
  • These tickets are comparable. After fees, I'm paying $100 & change per ticket for Radiohead.

If, SVRDhand is accurate, (I'm sure he is, I don't have the time to fact check him) then I will gladly pay an extra $25 / ticket for 45 more minutes of live music.

  • If Radiohead is worth $90, then Pearl Jam is worth about $2000

I'm betting that if Radiohead was playing Fenway their prices would be comparable to Pearl Jam's and if Pearl was playing the TD Garden their prices would be comparable to Radiohead's. You can compare the acts but not the venues. Fenway, Wrigley, Safeco...these places are a big reason why the tickets are so expensive this year. Not the only reason, but a big one.

Wanna talk about a frustrating presale - got into queue right when tickets were set to go on sale, waited in queue, and now the show's allocation of presale tickets is sold out.

They were fan club tickets that went on sale at 9. General public tickets go on sale on Friday.

did any of you people complaining about the price of PJ tickets this time around ever think the reason might be to pay off ticketbastard and others to secure more 10C tickets like they have? Do you really think ticketmaster and these other companies are giving the 10C more tickets this time around out of the goodness of their heart? come on people...

I'm sure this has a lot to do with it.

It's just is so hard for me to understand (and accept) that TM needs to be paid off so that the band can get access to additional tickets (for their own show!) they can make available to their fan club.

+1  5 out of 7 shows are not even run by Ticketmaster.  Ticketmaster sells the tickets provided to them by the promoter.  Ticketmaster doesn't have the power to "give the 10C tickets", that's not how it works.  Ticketmaster doesn't own the tickets in the first place.

that's why I said ticketbastard and others.  Do you think ticketmaster did the verified fan deal for free? if you don't think the increased costs for this tour vs last and/or vs Radiohead had at least something to do with 10C getting more tickets than I think you are either crazy or delusional. just my take.
  • JimmyVJimmyV Boston's MetroWest Posts: 19,583
Of course Ticketmaster got paid for the Verified Fan deal and, yes, that does add to the price of the tickets. But, the prices for concerts at Fenway this year have been astronomical across the board. The venues are no small reason why these prices are what they are.
