Don't be so pissy we get it your pissed that tickets are not $ 25 each anymore it is what it is ...I'm happy to pay $247 for a pair to see this band which by the way never dissapoints .....wnh1977 said:

Hmmm. Don't recall Paul McCartney saying, "Our band, which is determined to keep ticket prices low, will always be in conflict with Ticketmaster." That was Stone Gossard. Don't recall Kevin Durant saying he wouldn't play basketball if kids and young fans were priced out of going... or maybe you forget Ed saying they just wouldn't tour and would stick to putting out albums if tickets weren't kept reasonably priced (fyi, like under $25 in the mid-90's). When you get on your high horse and self-righteously claim that you'll always look out for the little guy because you, at one time, were the little guy, these dramatic price increases make you look a little silly.Get_Right said:It cost me $600 for two tix to Paul McCartney. Even more for two tickets to see Kevin Durant play basketball for two hours. A lame version of the lion king is $199 per ticket. Get real people.
Nobody is saying prices shouldn't go up as the years go on, but the huge jumps over the past few years is what is alarming people. And as somebody pointed out, throw in your $20 - $40 membership fee as part of the cost of doing business with PJ tours these days too.jesus greets me looks just like me ....0 -

Nobody is saying prices shouldn't go up as the years go on. And most agree that these are, at the very least, fair prices when compared to other large acts. But the huge jumps over the past few years is what is alarming people. And as somebody pointed out, throw in your $20 - $40 membership fee as part of the cost of doing business with PJ tours these days too. It's their claim that they were different that starts to ring hollow. I just wonder if they cringe with their sanctimonious statements from the 90's about being all about the little guy/average fans. They weren't bashful about staking their claim to the moral high ground. The videos and statements still exist. I'm sure they can provide plenty of reasons for the change of tune... but they don't have to. The fans that accept zero criticism of this band does it for them.2000: Noblesville, IN

I had sticker shock when I saw the prices today but you guys lose me when you claim they sold out to Ticketmaster and point to 1994. Times change and people grow up. Life happens. My views and opinions have certainly changed since the early 90's. I'm not gonna fault the band for being the same. Any of you who claim your views haven't changed are being dishonest with yourselves.

I just won tickets to phish through their lottery, fucking awesome seats in a section right in front of the stage, 6 rows back. Total
cost? $159 for 2.
tickets were $65 each. Seriously, $65. And they’re playing 21 shows. That’s how you tour- you hit a pile of venues so your fans don’t have to drop $500 in travel expenses/hotel rooms before they even buy a ticket.
Originally I was like “I’m not going to PJ.” Then the wife said “you should go and stay with family on Chicago,” so I got all excited. Now I see the price and I’m seriously not sure it’s worth it. If it was 1999 or 2000 and I knew the band wasn’t going to just mail it in and give us a predictable setlist and a predictable show with the same stage setup and the same swinging lights during porch I think I’d go but now I’m seriously not sure they’re worth the $550 to get tickets/flights.
edit for the screenshot: seriously look at that price:

As for the "cheapness" of the tickets, they are somewhat cheaper than other mega bands, and more expensive than others. I followed pj on the 03 tour. Saw 15 shows. No way in hell could I do that now6/26/98, 8/17/00, 10/8/00, 12/8/02, 12/9/02, 4/25/03, 5/28/03, 6/1/03, 6/3/03, 6/5/03, 6/6/03, 6/12/03, 6/13/03, 6/15/03, 6/18/03, 6/21/03, 6/22/03, 7/12/03, 7/14/03, 10/3/04, 10/5/04, 9/9/05, 9/11/05, 9/16/05, 5/16/06, 5/17/06, 5/19/06, 6/30/06, 7/23/06, 8/5/07, 6/30/08, 8/23/09, 8/24/09, 5/4/10, 5/7/10, 9/3/11, 9/4/11, 10/11/13, 10/17/14, 8/20/160 -

Well when you see the amount of money people drop on merch, no wonder they figure they can jack ticket prices. I'll be limiting my merch spending which will probably all cost more too.

Agreed. The Ticketmaster situation isn't the only PJ related example. Compare Eddie's speech (?) when winning the Grammy in 1996 to his speech at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2017. People and their views on things change pretty drastically over the course of 20+ years.Post edited by rey on0 -

Uggghhh, I know. I’m in such a mental battle though, you know? If I didn’t see the band back in the 90’s several times maybe I wouldn’t feel the way I do? If I hadn’t listened to like 10 shows from 2000 and 4 or 5 from 2003 these last few days (I’m on a major major bootleg kick) maybe I wouldn’t have realized that the energy was so unpredictable and edgy back then compared to now. It’s just so dialed in & predictable now.wnh1977 said:

I’m just bummed I guess. Still love the band and everything that goes with them, just having a really hard time getting behind a 6 show “tour” or whatever this is. Sure makes being a fan extremely difficult if you’re not in Chicago or Boston.I'm like an opening band for your mom.0 -
It's frustrating when they play fewer shows every year, expect everyone to travel to one of their only 4 cities chosen, play enormous stadiums AND jack up the price. They're obviously playing to the elite now, with their $500 a night hotel packages etc.
I'm not saying PJ is the most expensive concert out there... I know. But for PJ, what they say, what they do, this is a little bit of a shock.ABQ 93, Las Cruces 95, ABQ 98, Bridge School 10/30/99, Lubbock 00, ABQ 00, Denver 03, State College 03, San Diego 03, Vegas 03, PHX 03, D.C. 03, Camden 7/5/03, NYC 7/8/03 + 7/9/03, Vegas 06, San Francisco 7/15/06 + 7/16/06 + 7/18/06, Kansas City 10, [EV:ABQ 11/6/12], Chicago 13, PHX 13, Denver 14--PJ24!, Telluride 16, Chicago 8/20/16, Chicago 8/18/18, Phoenix 22, Denver 22, Vegas 5/16/24
