Nothing wows me so far. Going by the bits we’ve heard and the Vault announcement, he may be trying mash too many styles together. He’s best when there are strong ties to American roots music
He’s had pretty strong country influences for basically his whole career.0 -
Wow, I enjoy Jack's solo albums from start to finish. I think they're fucking fantastic. Lucky me, lol. And I none of them have heavy country sounds. I know he's influenced by country, but his solo albums don't actually sound country. It may be a fine line between that bad country sound that I hate and everything else for me, but Jack's never crossed it on the solo albums (like Ryan Adams does a lot).

I love his solo work.. no complaints from me. There are many real gems on the two solos, and no duds in my opinion. Probably the only song I don't really like is High Ball Stepper.0

I like how everything he does is different. Each group/solo record has it's own unique sound.Alright, alright, alright!

give me Fly Farm Blues or Battle Cry (too bad it's instrumental), or most of the b-sides off Blunderbuss. a few tracks off each album and that's about it.By The Time They Figure Out What Went Wrong, We'll Be Sitting On A Beach, Earning Twenty Percent.0

Lol, no disrespect. I just find people really like to give their negative thoughts on things. I guess for the most part I try to live by the "If I don't have something good to say, I don't say anything" ... but .... Just my thoughts.0

The only annoying thing about that is I have to take the record completely out of the sleeve to listen to it. So I'll definitely try a pack of these Groove ones to see how it goes.0 -

Country was something I grew up having to listen to. My mom loved radio country. So I had an extreme distaste for it. discovering Uncle Tupelo Whiskeytown and later Wilco and RA in the 90's/oo's really opened me up (checking out Parsons/ and his bands/Willie/Cash/Haggard as well as contemporary alt-country stuff) and made me get into it. I still dislike current pop country save a few acts, and most of that stuff I grew up with is meh, but good country is out there.
