    She won't. That would require empathy and self-reflection and many people are just incapable of that. They just don't care how their callous words and actions affect others. Sad but true.

    It seems like she is not mentally sane since what you have told about her being physically and mentally abusive towards you all your life. I would try to just feel sorry for her because of how she is. If she wants to hurt you it's best that you don't give her that. No response is the best response I think,

    Agreed. She won't. Narcissists are incapable of such things. I have a friend who took the step you need to take - he cut off all contact with his mother because she was a horrible, destructive person in his life. Be warned, it took him a long time to finally get to that point, but what finally took him there was his attempts to do it. He would separate, and she would come forward with even harsher hate and a whole lot of crazy. There was no way in hell she was ever going to take any responsibility for the disastrous relationship. Finally he was brave enough to not continuously let her quilt tactics work on him at some level. The process of separation probably took 5 years because her tactics worked on him for way too long; she kept drawing him back in by playing the sad old victim and it took him that long to realize she was never ever going to change. People like that don't change. Ever.
