I used drive many times 4/5 years ago when I was about 19-21. And everytime, I always get parking tickets, I swear! My friend said it was probably the Mass plates :p ...So I started taking the train in, which is an hour away from my town and is about 2 and half hours away from Grand Central.
hahaha it coulda been the plates but I doubt it cause we get hammered every opportunity they get. Them traffic cops are everywhere and you cant sleep on them for one second!

Actually, one night I lost the location of my car. And my friend and I were looking for it from 9pm to 3am around the areas of Central Park!

Luckily, two nice off-duty cops helped us find my car.

well I wanted to continue my trip. I had a destination but things happened and are happening that led me back to NY. I hit the road on a bike for about a week, met up with some friends in Savannah by the name of Leathermandi and Cholorblind Chameleon, stayed there for a couple of days and jumped a greyhound to NY for the Holidays to be with the fam

Well, you cared about your family. :) It's really hard for a family person to do what Chris McCandless did...but that's for another thread.

Yeah I know we had leg cramps for hours before we started driving back home. Got back into home around 8 in the morning. :(
Went from an awesome day in NYC to being a nightmare.

Yeah I know what you mean about uncomfortable situation, we've all been there wanting to be elsewhere.

well anyways, thank you(+ Allie) again for some of the NYC info. I'll probably end up staying in Flushing. I'll try another agency site instead of priceline to if there's better offers.

Chat with you guys later and seeya at the shows maybe. :D

    DO NOT

I repeat DO NOT bring your car into Manhattan. You would be much better off parking it somewhere far-ish in PA or NJ and take the train. Parking here is OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive. You can't even imagine.

UNLESS... you use iconparking.com I've gotten a full day's worth of parking for as low as like $13

    hey fatal,

In secaucus you are going to take the 190 bus to port authority. it will probably be around 5 bucks round trip. it's only about a 15 minute bus ride in depending on the traffic at the lincoln tunnell. this bus will drop you off on 42nd and 8th. when you get out of the bus station head down town. msg will be 8 blocks on the left.

let me know if you have any questions.

if anybody needs some ideas for nyc be more specific. i've probably been to nyc about 100 times and i still see different things everytime i go.

    Cool thanks for the info!

Btw....im not looking for any glamour in Secaucus! lol...But based on the hotel prices i was pulling up (including parking my car)...i figure i'm going to be saving at least $200 a day going this route.... x5 days is alot of cash!

Does the Jersey/NYC train and bus system operate 24-hours?

From what i remember reading, i believe that the last train to NJ runs at around 1-2pm. It's not 24 hours...

I used to stay at this place prior to moving to New York. Their rates were reasonable and the place was great. That was a few years ago so maybe it isn't reasonable anymore and it may be booked. But I'd recommend looking into it.

Also, I had friends stay at The Awesome Bed and Breakfast in Brooklyn. They ran into a bed bug issue. Be warned of "deals"

    Cheers and enjoy the city!

OK...no Brooklym then...Back to Flushing, I guess unless I find an cheaper place soon. :)

Mansfield hotel booking was sooooo much easier. Mainly coz I'll drive my own damn car there :p

it appears you are only checking within the 5 boros when

NJ has plenty of just as close areas and that also have mass transit into NYCs Pennsylvania Station .

    ( ie : Jersey City, Hoboken )

    Best Of Luck.....
