I think you will save a lot of money if you stay at a hotel in Astoria where you can like others said catch the subway and be at msg in 30 mins. Look in Woodside area too, they have some motels there for cheap and not only can you catch the subway, the Long Island Railroad gets you right into penn station faster than the subway even. I recommend Queens casue I live here and I know its VERY accesible to the city in no time. Theres even a bus the Q32 I believe that takes you to MSG from Queens.

and Long Road, yea the MTA services all 5 boroughs only, not NJ.
Aah, fuck it, I’m just gonna go home, turn on the fuckin’ TV...
Watch the nightly news and drink a beer...
Like I could even change the world, yeah right...

    Astoria is northern Queens?

Do you know any good hotel/rates in Flushing?

I know I can get a really cheap ride from Queens' Chinatown to Manhattan's Chinatown on the Chinese operated vans. :D

no problem. Astoria is north yea. If you do a search for Hotels near Laguardia airport which is smack dab in the middle of ALL the transportation. 5 mins. away from the 7 line which takes you to Times Square and u can walk to the Garden a few blocks. 5 mins away from Astoria and the N line, and a few mins. away from the LIRR stop in Woodside on 61st. Astoria Boulevard, Queens Boulevard, and Northern...thats where you wanna look for hotels. Stayin in the citys a ripoff.

Flushing is where Shea Stadium is..

and don't take those dollar vans! oh for God's sake

    If you stay in Flushing,
yea what SB said, you can catch the Long Island Rail Road directly into Penn Station and MSG is right up the stairs/escalators.

The LIRR is more expensive then the subway but it's much cleaner and more expeditious

the last stop of the 7 train is in Flushing. It will take you into Times Square (42nd Street). and I believe you can take the A C or E trains one stop downtown to
    Penn Station.

We should stickey the NYC Transit maps:

Thanks...for the info Stick and Allie. The Laguardia location looks convenience. Never used the LIRR but I've used the subway and dollar vans before. And the dollar vans aren't that bad. :p:D

Chiqui! You're coming out for the shows? Cool!
It depends what train you take
NJ Transit trains also come into Penn Station

the PATH train stops at 6th Avenue btwn 32nd and 33rd

MSG is on 7th Ave and 34th Street

You have to find out when the last train is though. I don't think they run all night? I don't know that much about Jersey though.

not sure about bergen chi, but check port authority website, cause they have more bus service from times square to jersey.

ye laguardia is most ideal man. LIRR is your best friend in this situation. Spend the 5-10 bucks round trip and you'll thank me later for not letting you drive into the city or having to deal with the stinky sweaty subway and possible delays.

It's more than 5. It costs $10.50 to go to Bayside!

You can't get to public transport easily if you stay near the airport though

but Flushing is in the middle of everything. It's got a lot of Korean businesses.

    SWEET! Nice! Well done!

no worries let me know if you have any more questions Chiqui.
I don't really know that much about Jersey though.

There's the PATH Trains and there's NJ Transit, that's all I know. I'm sure your family can guide you as to the best way to get into the city.

$145 in Flushing? That still sound expensive to me

that's right in the middle of downtown Flushing
you're w/in walking distance of both the 7 train and the LIRR

there's plenty of inexpensive places to eat right there on Main Street. (ie: fast food/Asian).
It's probably about..hmm..maybe approx. 30 mins into Manhattan at the most.
