  • In all seriousness... with the checks and balances in place to prevent absolute rogue presidency... is it possible for the US to feature a worse president? My colleagues and I were just discussing this.

I mean... Bush was horrendous, but Trump has managed to push horrendous to new depths.

As bad as Trump is it really is Congress that cannot be any worse. Those checks and balances would have removed Trump from office already if Congress was willing to standup and do its job. It hasn't yet and it is unclear it ever will.

True. Congress isn't checking anything. The main checks now are some aides and White House staff that monitor and babysit lil' trump.

    When will this nonsense end?

President Donald Trump on Wednesday suggested that NBC’s broadcast license should be pulled as punishment for reporting on his national security meetings, opening a new front in the president’s long-running battle with the press.

NBC News published a report Wednesday morning stating that Trump had surprised his national security advisers by proposing a nearly tenfold increase in the U.S. nuclear arsenal during a July meeting. The meeting was what allegedly led Secretary of State Rex Tillerson to call Trump a “moron” — a comment that NBC first reported last week.

Trump lashed out at NBC, appearing to make a threat that is not even possible, given that the Federal Communications Commission doesn’t directly license networks.

“Fake @NBCNews made up a story that I wanted a ‘tenfold’ increase in our U.S. nuclear arsenal. Pure fiction, made up to demean. NBC = CNN!” Trump wrote on Twitter, equating the two TV news outlets he has most often lashed out against. “With all of the Fake News coming out of NBC and the Networks, at what point is it appropriate to challenge their License? Bad for country!”

Wants to silence the media who critique him. Wants to force everyone to stand for the anthem and the flag. Hmm, where did he get these ideas of blind patriotism and controlled media coverage?
    It's a hopeless situation...

Was it fake news though or real? I know I’d like to know if he really wanted to increase it 10 fold or not. I don’t believe any news stories anymore until they’re proven correct, they all report shenanigans for ratings these days- that’s how they make their money anyway.

to me it's partially believable since he stated during the campaign he intended on increasing america's nuclear arsenal like never before.

Highly doubtful that whatever happened in that meeting is the only reason Tillerson believes Trump is a f****** moron.

What are they supposed to do though when the actual stories are legitimate shenanigans? Not report on them

Oh yeah, I wouldn’t put it past him at all and agree it would be ridiculous, but that’s how the news works these days- in partial truths, ya know? They know if something seems possible it’s print worthy, regardless of how true.

I think, if anything, Trump's constant proclamations of "Fake News!" is making them be even more diligent and truthful in their reporting practices. no way in hell they want any of their news stories to give credence to Trump's claims.

    Right.

Plus multiple outlets have verified the "Moron" reporting.

Generally speaking, if Trump is mad about something.....bet your life that it is true.

Tillerson's days are numbered.  Trump cares more about people saying he's smart and good ratings then anything else.

Trump would be more apt to start a war with North Korea because Rocket Man called him a dummy vs. threatening to attack America.

everything I've read points to that option of removal to be the least likely option, like, slim to none.

but he also doesn't want it to look like he's terrible at making staffing choices. he's already fired or resigned how many top officials now?

For now, yes. Mueller's investigation is ongoing as is the Senate Intelligence Committee investigation. We may, MAY, get to a point where even this congress can no longer refuse to act.
