Not sure if i'm alone on this one but it makes Just Breathe sound even more amazing.

To me it sounds like Ed's just getting over a cold or something, maybe just o'brians mixing that makes it sound like that though...

I haven't really thought this through yet, but i think this could be up in my top 5 all time songs already.

And possibly the perfect timing for PJ to make a love song like this just before my wedding.

    it was snot-o-tuned.
I smile, but who am I kidding...
  • People keep saying this and I'm not understanding because I think its one of his clearer vocals.. he sounds more stuffy on The Fixer.

He sounds very good on just breathe I think.. And we can thank brendan o'brien for this. He has obviously looked at some different ways of recording eddies vocal, also the mixing of it.

Just Breathe = Awesome, we should all be so sick :)
If you have a chance to make life better for others, and fail to do so, you are wasting your time on this earth.

    Roberto Clemente.
  • careful criticizing this song. with all the hype surrounding it in the interviews leading up to the release you know this is one of the most anticipated songs on the album! unless of course you have a short essay with sources.

i had the audacity to criticize it already and was given the whip for it.

now where is that oh so charming gentlemen who insulted me the other day?

I think its cool how Eddie "changes" his voice in his songs
Just Breathe is beautifully repetitive its the kind that really grows on you
Alone too- his way of singing that song thats why its a favorite
it still amazes me that I must defend his voice and their sound to people in my life
must be the different drummer thing
for me his voice is beautiful always
  • in no way am i saying that it sounds bad, i think its amazing.

This is stunning track, gloriously simplistic and beautiful.

I don't hear a cold, just maybe the best track I heard in many years

it didn't need to grow either, stunned me instantly

Just heard it come on Sirius, I think, and have always thought, it was recorded whilst Ed had a cold, very congested sounding.

I did my best cover of it with a cold.  Seriously.

    That's his weird Backspacer voice.

The sequel to the screechy S/T voice, that followed the "just woke up" voice of Riot Act.

There was an interview with Ed about the recording of Backspacer where he mentioned he recorded vocals for one of the tracks when he was sick, I always assumed it was Just Breathe. He made the comment that implied being sick added a dimension to the vocals and he was happy with it.
