So I'm no expert but, golly....it sure seems like they are trying to rush through a huge bill that will affect millions of lives and 1/6 of our economy without knowing how much it will cost all for a short term political gain. Why oh why would the republican party do this? Sure seems like the opposite of conservatism to me. What happened to this party? www.myspace.com0

I was just discussing this with someone who is currently getting into politics - he's a centrist, but open to both sides of the spectrum, depending on the issue. His take, after hobnobbing with actual conservative politicians and attending their events, is that they are anything but fiscally conservative when it comes to countering the left just for the sake of countering the left. He was rather appalled by the hypocrisy. The Juggler said:So I'm no expert but, golly....it sure seems like they are trying to rush through a huge bill that will affect millions of lives and 1/6 of our economy without knowing how much it will cost all for a short term political gain. Good for McCain and Rand Paul! This won't be the last of this issue but killing the Graham-Cassidy proposal will be a step in the right direction.tbergs said:

so....isn't the vote 50/50 now with Pence as the tie-breaker?0

I think the anticipation is Collins, Murkowski or Paul will vote against it again too though.CM189191 said:so....isn't the vote 50/50 now with Pence as the tie-breaker?

A lot (maybe the whole ball of wax) depends on which way Collins and Murkowski goes. I hope constituents in Maine and Alaska are putting on the pressure.CM189191 said:so....isn't the vote 50/50 now with Pence as the tie-breaker?

Anyone can call, but honestly, do they pay attention to anyone that isn't a constituent - i.e. a voter? The Juggler said:

It can't hurt, that's for sure, and it takes only very small bit of time to make the call.oftenreading said:

This vote will affect people outside their constituency.

Many of their votes affect people outside of their constituents. I think it's wishful thinking that they'll pay attention to people who can't vote for them, but I wouldn't tell anyone not to try.CM189191 said:oftenreading said:
