I think it belongs here because this is what we get with easy access to guns and the resulting proliferation.

Agreed.  What he did was part of gun culture.  Sometimes gun incidents end like this.  Other times, someone gets shot.

Yes, and I'm really surprised this didn't receive in Canada (i.e. enough for it to have been mentioned in the regular news broadcasts that I see). Usually a horrifying mass shooting like this in the US gets at least some coverage up here.

How ironic that you are condemning the police and calling it a "murder" without due process.  Where in the article does it even mention the race of the asshole?  Why do you not condemn the person that shot 8 people?  You are being ridiculous...

Hmm, I don't know if there were any gun owners/carriers among the victims. If a few did have a gun, odds are there wouldn't be 8 dead.

Yeah, pretty sure they are referring to the guns the shooter used. I have yet to see otherwise.

"Investigators said the gunman arrived at his former home Sunday at about 8 p.m., armed with multiple weapons. The man then went on a rampage, shooting nine people, seven fatally, inside the home and in the back yard, before being fatally shot by a Plano police officer."

Did I misread that, or did you call the cop a murderer for shooting a guy who just killed 8 people? A guy who was still armed, and with wounded victims who needed help?
Seriously? They should let him kill everyone else too and then hope he surrenders peacefully?
Comments like that make it very difficult to take criticism of police seriously.

As others said, not to mention its a little racist to assume the guy killing 8 people is black, but go ahead and accuse the police of racism.

I don't know the odds specifically of course. Using rational thinking, if any of the 8 were armed there would be a higher chance of survival and they could defend themselves against someone else with a gun. It also means they could all still die, which is the worst case scenario we are already dealing with. I am not a gun advocate or supporter, but this only makes sense.
    It's a hopeless situation...
