I don't give that party that much credit. They are humiliated either way, so I definitely won't be surprised if they do nominate him again, going on the "stay the course" kind of mindset... especially if he manages to start a war between now and then. Who knows?? NOTHING can be ruled out at this point. I didn't think it was possible that he'd be nominated the first time.... and then he was.HughFreakingDillon said:
if it ever gets released, and if he makes it through his whole first time, he won't be nominated in 2020. that would be just way too humiliating for the republican party.PJ_Soul said:
Well, if he doesn't leave office before this term is over, he's likely to run again... of course, by then, the PTAPE will pale in comparison to all the shit he did in office. I agree that the humiliation is worth it, lol. Not just for the sake of Trump, but also for his die-hard supporters.Halifax2TheMax said:
Personally, I would have liked to have known prior to the election that he was susceptible to blackmail from Russia. It's not like he admitted to the behavior and released the tape. Poor judgement on a future presidential candidate's part, the likes of which we're seeing and experiencing now after it's too late. Remember, Obama didn't release it but his intelligence team briefed Trump on it. PTAPE, where are you? The humiliation alone is worth it.PJ_Soul said:
That isn't really the point I don't think. Doesn't anyone think he would be impeached for getting hookers to pee on each other as a fuck you to the dems? No. I think everyone just want to witness the proof for fun and spite and so there is further evidence of how disgusting he is.ledvedderman said:I read that earlier. Pee tape changes nothing. We all know that Trump is a sleazy guy. Hell, a solid chunk of the people who voted for him don't believe he's a good person. Russian hookers peeing on one another changes nothing.
Instead, give me video of the President personally asking for Russian help. Would that even do it though? Putin polls much higher than even President Obama amongst Trump voters. They'd probably give even that a pass.
We can't impeach the guy over a sexual act...no matter what Newt and Ken Starr think.
Of course, that dossier overall is likely another matter.

It may be humiliating for the party, but unfortunately it isn't humiliating for the grass roots or the voters. There's no stopping them.0

Dude...you would be SHOCKED to see how these people think. Go on to Breitbart and read the comments in an article. They refuse to believe anything that doesn't fit precisely into their world view. The grip on reality is gone...not even tenuous anymore. Anything that moves against heir bias is 'fake news', 'CNN lies", etc. It's really, literally insane. So long as he goes after immigrants, they will stay with him. Abortion, taxes, free market, foreign power collusion etc. none of the traditional pillars of Republicanism matter one iota.HughFreakingDillon said:

Yep. There's nothing that will drop any of these people from his bandgwagon, short of him shooting a personal acquaintance. To a third of the country, Breitbart, Fox, and Trump's Twitter are the only legitimate sources of news.mrussel1 said:

I'd put the fully delusional trump suporters around 15%. 20% tops. It's really bizzare and sad to see, but at the same time it makes me grateful for the internet, because otherwise I'd have no idea about the thought process of this segment of the population. There's zero factual basis from their standpoint and it's solely emotional, mostly fear based.OnWis97 said:

Agree with the last two posts 100%. When he said last year he could go out on Fifth Avenue and shoot someone and lose zero support; he's pretty close to telling the truth. The people left are there for the long haul. A lot of these people don't like to admit they were wrong by supporting him- so if they keep their support...they can't be wrong. I would love to see a psychological makeup of these folks. Of folks who in every other aspect of their life, wouldn't support an unknown factor in how they invest their time or money. Yet pull the wild card on a candidate to run the country.0

I don't know. I think your ceiling of 20% is way too low. I'd put it at 28-29%, which means we are almost there. The approval rating needle is going to move very slowly from here on out unless the economy tanks (if even then) or we go to war- where it will get up in the 40's. But I honestly think we're close to that now.Go Beavers said:

My break down goes like this: if we have 15% delusional trump suppoerters, that leaves about 20% of the country as more rationally minded trump supporters. In that 20% there's the old crusty die hard republicans who think he's rude and underqualified, but red is always better than blue no matter what, and hey, tax cuts! There's also strong support from conservative Chrisitan fundamentalists. They don't approve of trump the individual, who they see as morally lacking, but that his policies of appointing conservative scotus judges along with his isoloationist stance is what God wants, basically. One world government is the work of the Devil and with that, their way of life and ability to worship would be eliminated. God put trump their to open a doorway to some sort of Christian revival, where God is the answer, not the government. There's also a segment of that 20% who just want to see things get upended in the system. trump's complete lack of abilities is doing this.ledvedderman said:

Some interesting insight here. Untenable to be tied to Trump except in the most red red districts in the most red of red states and gerrymandered red districts. You can't win re-election or claim a mandate with 38%, primarily your base, supporting you.

Trumps base did not win him the election 8 months ago. Rather, it was his energized base + disaffected Obama supporters, bitter Bernie Bros and independents (with Russian collusion) combined to give him a narrow victory. That 35%-38%, of his core base, will not win him a re-election or give him a mandate. Unless of course everyone else stays home. Not happening. 2,864,974 more voted for Hillary but you know, the Electoral College.09/15/1998 & 09/16/1998, Mansfield, MA; 08/29/00 08/30/00, Mansfield, MA; 07/02/03, 07/03/03, Mansfield, MA; 09/28/04, 09/29/04, Boston, MA; 09/22/05, Halifax, NS; 05/24/06, 05/25/06, Boston, MA; 07/22/06, 07/23/06, Gorge, WA; 06/27/2008, Hartford; 06/28/08, 06/30/08, Mansfield; 08/18/2009, O2, London, UK; 10/30/09, 10/31/09, Philadelphia, PA; 05/15/10, Hartford, CT; 05/17/10, Boston, MA; 05/20/10, 05/21/10, NY, NY; 06/22/10, Dublin, IRE; 06/23/10, Northern Ireland; 09/03/11, 09/04/11, Alpine Valley, WI; 09/11/11, 09/12/11, Toronto, Ont; 09/14/11, Ottawa, Ont; 09/15/11, Hamilton, Ont; 07/02/2012, Prague, Czech Republic; 07/04/2012 & 07/05/2012, Berlin, Germany; 07/07/2012, Stockholm, Sweden; 09/30/2012, Missoula, MT; 07/16/2013, London, Ont; 07/19/2013, Chicago, IL; 10/15/2013 & 10/16/2013, Worcester, MA; 10/21/2013 & 10/22/2013, Philadelphia, PA; 10/25/2013, Hartford, CT; 11/29/2013, Portland, OR; 11/30/2013, Spokane, WA; 12/04/2013, Vancouver, BC; 12/06/2013, Seattle, WA; 10/03/2014, St. Louis.
