I emailed the UK Matador people yesterday to ask why my order hadn't shipped yet, since we should get the album by release day, not after (as their own website says that is the goal, and that is obviously the whole point of pre-ordering in the first place). Their stupid response was that the release date was Aug 25th, so it would ship then. I replied essentially saying "Wtf? What's the point in the pre-order then?" And then I got a shipping confirmation this morning.... too late. I probably won't receive it for at least a week or 2. Kind of pisses me off. The UK store dropped the fucking ball.

I've heard the album, pretty good stuff. My favorite by far is The Evil Has Landed.

Spinning the deluxe right now. For some reason I thought it was a 45, but was surprised when I put it on to discover it was just 33. Thought it was the same as Like Clockwork deluxe. Sounds amazing though! I can tell I'll be playing this a lot. Three songs in and loving it. Packaging is an A+++.

All versions of Like Clockwork are 45rpm afaik.

My Villains should be here tomorrow. All the QOTSA vinyl I have sounds great.

Pretty damn hard. Not a wasted musical note on that album.

After first listen, I really like the album, but feel like I'm not as blown away as I was hoping. Definitely some great tracks. I hear a lot of Them Crooked Vultures sound in Feet Don't Fail Me. Side A and C are my favorites without relistening.

2nd listen this morning via digital streaming on the way to work and it is definitely growing on me quickly. I am loving Domesticated Animals. I really like Hommes' staccato style delivery and that simple guitar riff in the background during the first part of the song. One thing that I noticed when streaming that I missed on the vinyl is the great outro of Domesticated Animals in to the natural intro of Fortress. It gets lost on the vinyl because it's a flip from Side A to B. Too bad that couldn't be preserved for the vinyl version. Fortress and Head Like a Haunted House will soon be favorites as well I can tell. Really good groove to the album.

And the packaging reminds me a lot of No Code with the large prints for each song and lyrics on the back. Nice thing here though is that you get all the songs and prints without having to track down multiple copies.

Thought Villains was really good. Not as good as Like Clockwork, but like someone previously said, I don't think they're gonna top Like Clockwork. Another strong effort from Homme.
