You are only seeing how this idiot uses twitter. I do think it can be used as a great tool by a president. It is a way to connect to the people....and not get any questions you have to answer. So I think the tool is great, just not the current user.HughFreakingDillon said:
I wasn't on twitter in the obama era, but from what I've seen, the only time he used it was to spread an official statement release across all formats. Not just personal stream of consciousness nonsense.cincybearcat said:

I don't have an issue with the president, any president, utilizing social media for official statements. the way trump uses it though, it's as if twitter is the official information supplier of the white house. it just seems so.....nontraditional. unofficial. however you want to put it.cincybearcat said:
I gotta agree with the first part...the POTUS needs to get in front of a camera on this.my2hands said:When 7 military service personnel die in an accident... or in any way, frankly... I expect the POTUS to give a fucking statement. And not through Twitter like a 15 year old. Period.
However, if used appropriately, I could see him sending a twitter message first. It's just that he can't do that without being a 15 year old.
So the question I have is, is trump cutting edge with his use of twitter....or am I just seeing his tweets more than Obama because of how stupid they are?
Cause if he is using it more, he is changing the political landscape moving forward. And it can be a very effective tool. Now we just need someone who isn't a tool using it as president!!
my hope is that the way he uses it doesn't become the norm. I'm hoping that trump is more of a one-off, atypical president. I can't imagine anyone else in the highest office would want to conduct themselves in such a manner.

The idiotic blog post that you linked would have us believe the most alarming of all the possibilities. Twitter is beneath the dignity of the office of the President. No he cannot. All he will say was he won the election (despite 3 million more people voting against him) yada yada yada. His tweets makes him and as a result, our country look like an irrational idiot. I love how they've been cited by the courts as reasons for blocking his travel ban. I'm sure they will come back to haunt him in some way with the investigations as well. Well where, exactly, do they expect these homeless people to go, if they don't camp there? Any time a homeless camp is shut down and/or deterred, that is the question everyone should be asking. Because if the city decides to send the campers packing, they ought to be making sure they offer some kind of alternative, but they NEVER do.PJfanwillneverleave1 said:

As for comparing it to Trump's border wall... I don't really see a connection. Homelessness and illegal border jumpers are a completely different issue. I mean, yeah, they're both walls that are supposed to block people from entering something... but so are a zillion other walls in the world. It's better to keep the issues of homelessness and Trump's wall separate.

What a dilemma for Trump - on the one hand, by self-definition he is completely healthy; in fact, the healthiest president ever, and yet he had a medical condition serious enough to avoid the draft. What a blow to his ego.Halifax2TheMax said:my2hands said:

"White House press secretary Sean Spicer said President Donald Trump and the entire administration was sending their thoughts and prayers to the sailors' families. The incident was a "sobering reminder of the dangers" faced by the men and women of the U.S. military every day, Spicer said.In a statement, acting Navy Secretary Sean Stackley said, "We are all deeply saddened by the tragic loss of our fellow shipmates. ... As details emerge, we can all be proud of the heroic effort by the crew to tend to the needs of those injured and save the ship from further damage while returning safely to port." He thanked "our Japanese allies" for their swift assistance, and said the Navy will fully investigate the cause." They are also investigating time discrepancies in the reporting of the collision. But maybe they should just shut up and not investigate.

Certain medical conditions make you unfit for service.
 Many degrees exist.

Exactly right. And we had another example just today:dignin said:
I don't see how that makes him sane. Every time he tweets something it almost always makes his job and the republicans job of getting shit done harder.BS44325 said:
It is very much sane. It is essentially how he won the Presidency over the Clinton money machine. I don't like it either but whether politically it currently does him more harm then good is the open question. You were all wrong before...maybe you are wrong again? Maybe? Nah.PJ_Soul said:
Let's cut out the bullshit. The way Trump uses Twitter, in his position, is fucking insane. Literally.Go Beavers said:
How he uses it is unprofessional, unethical, and an extension of his narcissism. I don't see it as cutting edge.cincybearcat said:
Times change. Presidents used to use radio then TV.HughFreakingDillon said:
Now we just need someone who isn't a tool using it as president!!Trump to China: Thanks for trying with North Korea""While I greatly appreciate the efforts of President Xi & China to help with North Korea, it has not worked out. At least I know China tried," Trump wrote. The tweet, which came hours before the United States and China were set to meet in Washington to talk about North Korea, caught multiple Trump administration officials off guard, leaving them scrambling as they tried to figure out what exactly what the President meant.""I'll use the magic word - let's just shut the fuck up, please."
