    I am as unhappy about Trump as most of you, but it's kinda sad to the left on the edge of its seat waiting out an impeachment that's never going to happen; and it's not going to get close enough for him to resign Nixon Style.* Time to move on and focus on 2018.  I almost feel bad for people that are expecting the hammer to drop tomorrow.

    *Though maybe he'll resign because he wants to go back to his old life.

    Well not literally...and I know this is all anecdotal, but I have seen so many people on facebook start calling for it before inauguration day and some of them post, several times a week, stories and add the comment "it's all about to start crumbling."  It's not.  With GOP control of both houses and a populace that, while polarized, is largely content with Trump as president, it's not going to happen.

    if polls are to be believed, and we know that can be a hard one to swallow, but if they are, the populace is not largely content with trump. the data I've seen actually shows the majority are unhappy with him and don't trust him or his admin. 

    yes, people have been saying things like that from the start. because people are afraid of the damage he'll do. people say things out of hope to try to make it real for themselves. that's not unusual. 

    but the fact remains: there are already calls for impeachment proceedings from inside the federal government based on what's known now, not to mention what may come to light in the near future. elected officials at that level don't do that lightly. or they shouldn't. 

    it's actually not that long until republican control of both houses is no longer an issue. I can't believe it already been 6 months since he was elected. it's gonna go by like THAT!

    It'll be interesting to see a) whether some horrible thing actually makes the GOP (and their most committed followers) actually abandon "party first" and challenge this guy and b) how 2018 goes.  In the Senate, unfortunately, the Democrats are playing defense.  The House could be more interesting.  What will be the impact on those GOP incumbents (that are not in iron-clad districts) that are pro-Trump (or at least not in any meaningful way challenging him)?  Will they feel any heat as their elections approach and try to distance themselves from Trump?  Will they double down and paint themselves as pro-Trump?  And how will they do in the elections...That's where I am on the content populace; I have a hard time believing that anyone will lose their seat simply for not challenging Trump.  I do see the Democrats picking some seats up but certainly not evening it out.  Trump should have his GOP majority in both houses for his entire first term.
