Just watched The Thinning. Excellent concept - a film about nations' ways of reducing a completely out of control population crisis in the not-too-distant future. America of course comes up with a very sinister and bizarre method, and this movie focuses on that and touches on the subject of political manipulation/favourtism. Unfortunately it's made in a way that is kind teeny-boppery, and focuses way too much on love interests. I wish the movie had been made in a more adult sort of way, and was darker, and little less ridiculous. Still, the concept is fascinating... it's a bit frustrating that so many dystopian future movies just don't bring the right tone (IMO). Most of them seem kind of white-washed and too polished, and don't get into the nitty gritty enough for them to even feel remotely realistic.

Thirteen Days - about the Cuban Missile Crisis and JFK. really good. watching it couldn't help but think how our current moron in charge would have handled it.

Collateral Beauty.
Oh, man, did that ever get to me because I've been fairly close to something like this, but what a fine, fine movie.

Hacksaw ridge tonight.
Both real good
Dumb
But wow is Margot Robbie jaw dropping. So beautiful and she acted well with a crap script.
Good flick from the writer/director of....
Mud
Loving
Midnight special
Quite bloody and graphic for its original PG rating in 1976.
It was good. Not as good as the book, but it holds up.

Big thumbs up! Great dialogue. Nice humor, despite the heavy subject.
