    "Once Were Warriors"

I learned a lot from this film but it is very disturbing.  This excellent film will cost me hours of sleep tonight.

This is such a powerful movie.  Haven’t watched in a couple years though.  First watched in the late 90s and never forgot it.

That's such a great movie. Temuera Morrison and Rena Owen are fantastic in it.
@brianlux There is a sequel to it, 'What Becomes Of The Broken Hearted?', but you may not want to dive straight into another one so soon!

    Yes, a great film!

Thanks for the tip about the sequel.   I'll wait awhile, for sure, but will eventually check it out.

I really learned a lot from "Once Were Warriors".  I love those scene where the head of the special school teaches the kids traditional ways.  But I'd always had this idealistic picture of NZ.  No doubt the landscape is beautiful in much of your country- that much I'm certain is true.  But I didn't know about the plight of the Maori (and probably other indigenous and minority peoples) and how serious it is.  I didn't know much about the poor in the cities there (but of course that exists in almost large city).

That was made in  '94.  Did it have an impact?  Has the situation improved?

a couple of days ago I watched "13th" I am still speechless.
I wonder if people have seen this and still believed that black people are treated equal to white people.

Really good.  I haven’t read the book, but it’s a pretty dark and ironic plot.  How’s the TNT series?

I like it thus far.  Also have not read the book but likely will at some point to compare.
