  • Cool, but i think you should look into what you have to do to legitamatly collect funds on behalf of a charity or other organisation. cause i think you might have to do a bit more then to just say, "these funds are going to (insert charity here)" you may need to have the charity send repersentatives or something like that. Like these days you have to give official receipts that show the charity name and all shit like that. cause i know laterly there has been a few people busted for collecting funds for a charity and the funds not making it to the charity. not saying anyone here would do that but all it needs is for one person to wonder about the people collecting money and them calling the police or something and if you guys didn't have any paper work or a representitive of the charity present it could look pretty bad cause it would just be your word that you were gonna pass the money on.

Just saying i'd hate to see you go to a lot of trouble to organise something to have it turn out badly. But i'm sure you have thought of all that type of shit and i just typed al that out for nothing.

lol no, its good you're concerned... and all these questions will keep us on our toes...

there just so happens to be a ACCA office in Newcastle, and Oz Jammer has posted on the ACCA forum in regards to all of this. I think he was going to get in contact with the Newy office next week when he had some spare time on his hands.... there should be a rep from that office that could lend a hand...
plus with all the media involved, it would look pretty sus if the money dissapeared....

Damn, now everyone knows ! :P

but really, it annoys me that it is so hard to help people nowadays. I understand the reasons for the legislation, but it really makes it tough to help people. Instead of putting in enough work to organise an event to support a charity, you have to pretty much have full time employees for months in advance. Why is it so bloody hard!!

Why is it even more difficult for doctors to organise these things. Drug companies are willing to through money around, so why is it almost impossible and illegal to organise an event where the drug company provides sponsorship and you raise money for a charity.

EG (real life example this one)

Charity event organised by a doctor, raising well over 15,000 (closer to 20,000) in a day for a charity in Melbourne, main sponsors were a drug company.

Change in legislation means that not only is there significantly more work involved in organising, but at a maximum without the support of the drug company the day struggles to raise 12,000 five years later, taking into account inflation, the CPI, the amount raised is less that half that previously raised, and the event continues to grow.

How can it be fair to people who really need the money that more work means less help for those in need. It really makes my blood boil (just in case you hadn't noticed :P)

settle down...settle down...at least they still get something.

  • yeah, true.

But as always it's a small minority that has fucked it up and made it harder for legitamate people to organise things

Hey, I was just watching a bit of Temptation (the quiz show) on Channel 9 and could not believe my eyes. A photo of Pearl Jam was featured as one of the celebrities on those boxes they turn around for the contestants to win more prizes etc.

Earlier this week I saw Pearl Jam printed on a sign outside 7-Eleven and now their photo is on a TV quiz show?

    WTF?

PJ's box had no prize money underneath it but no-one picked it anyway.
