Yeah, as if this is something new lol
It is. At least with price increase before coverage wasn't getting worse.
But to have premiums increase by 20% on top of reducing coverage 25-25% or more in 1 year is ridiculous.

With the new plan it will cost 50% more to see a doctor, 33% more to fill prescriptions. All while paying 20% more to have this plan. In 20 years of being an adult I have never have seen this big of a change in o e year

It's not new if we're using personal anecdotal stories as a gauge of our glorious health insurance system. (Which seems like a popular way to measure it). I had more expensive premiums with less coverage every year since '95.

Who needs health insurance? Everyone should not get sick, hurt or require care of any kind. And if you do, you rely upon yourself to get well or the rugged individuals in your compound. And if you do go to the hospital, you can barter your chickens, goats or cows or offer a daughter up for marriage or a son to labor. Stop being a taker. Sheesh.

ObamaCare is only a mess to people that paid for bullshit plans that offered little in the way of protection if you got truly sick. That's the facts. If you lost your plan, it's because you paid for crap. Deal with it.

In 1971 I sliced my head open on a door sill. I had zero insurance and worked minimum wage. My roommate took me to a free clinic just off the panhandle and the doc cleaned me up, sewed me up and sent me on my way. No charge.

Modern times made up for it. I forget the exact cost now but much later in life when I had an inguinal hernia repair a band aid or gauze pad cost something like ten bucks, etc. etc.

    Medical care today = kaching!

Got hurt? No money? Tough shit!

Just received a memo from out HR department regarding our benefits. To prevent costs from going even higher, we are getting reduced coverage.
This is how it will change:
Premiums up 20% (was going to be even higher until we lowered the coverage by the following)

    Dr. visit up 50%
    ER visit up 50%
    Medication copay up 33%
Max out of pocket up 75%
Annual Deductible up 300% Yes, three hundred!

These increases were to keep our premiums from increasing even more than the 20%.
O yeah, and we were just told that at this time no raises are being approved.

Where do those people work who claim health benefits aren't skyrocketing?

I was far better off before this mess took over.

I work in government. Haven't had an increase in premiums in years. Deductible has gone up slightly and co-pay up $2.
    I'm through with screaming

I also work in government (education). It has gone up almost every year, but this year is probably the worst.
There were several replies that claimed they get the same speech from HR every year about increases, and this is nothing new.
Well here's a little math for you.
For those that stated this is normal, that is not true. If you had a $5 copay 20 years ago and it went up 50% every year, you'd be paying $16,000 20 years later.
A $20 copay that goes up 50% every year would be $66,000 20 years later.
So saying a 50% increase is normal and on par with American health insurance is not even close.
A $100 deductible that triples every year (as mine did) would be $348 billion 20 years later.
    this is normal?

Drop your insurance, save the money, invest in the stock market and stay healthy. Problem solved.

    Richard --

This morning, Michelle and I awoke to some surprising and humbling news. At 6 a.m., we received word that I'd been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009.

To be honest, I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many of the transformative figures who've been honored by this prize -- men and women who've inspired me and inspired the entire world through their courageous pursuit of peace.

But I also know that throughout history the Nobel Peace Prize has not just been used to honor specific achievement; it's also been used as a means to give momentum to a set of causes.

That is why I've said that I will accept this award as a call to action, a call for all nations and all peoples to confront the common challenges of the 21st century. These challenges won't all be met during my presidency, or even my lifetime. But I know these challenges can be met so long as it's recognized that they will not be met by one person or one nation alone.

This award -- and the call to action that comes with it -- does not belong simply to me or my administration; it belongs to all people around the world who have fought for justice and for peace. And most of all, it belongs to you, the men and women of America, who have dared to hope and have worked so hard to make our world a little better.

So today we humbly recommit to the important work that we've begun together. I'm grateful that you've stood with me thus far, and I'm honored to continue our vital work in the years to come.

    Thank you,

    President Barack Obama

Do you have one of these ?

Thanks so much for your donation of $25.00.

Now, will you help get out the vote for President Obama?

There are still a lot of voters out there who need to hear from someone like you, so sign up for a volunteer shift here, or make some calls:
