He is also a raging narcissist, yes, and I can why some might confuse the two things, but I feel like his mental instability is obvious, and many, many experts have said the same, so.... I think he suffers from a profound personality disorder, yes. Much of his behaviour is about that. But I think he ALSO suffers from growing mental instability - the signs can be subtle, but having experienced them before, they are noticeable to me. No, I haven't read the transcripts to his speeches. But watching his speeches, he's not a good public speaker. that's obvious. he speaks on the fly based on the reactions he gets from the crowd. Nothing about him is conventional, but I don't think you can jump from that to "out of his mind". I'm saying it's impossible to know by just watching a guy on a podium. diagnoses like that take many person-to-person conversations and tests. at this point, all they can do is speculate. and consider that many a leader that has not been liked has been smeared with the "mentally unstable" tag. Maybe these folks are non-partisan, maybe they aren't. who knows. I don't know anything about dementia and the signs of it. So I can't comment on that.PJ_Soul said:

I think he suffers from a profound personality disorder, yes. Much of his behaviour is about that. But I think he ALSO suffers from growing mental instability - the signs can be subtle, but having experienced them before, they are noticeable to me. Yup. I worked with someone who was going through this (he recently finally retired). A lot of the what I saw with my colleague are things I see with Trump. My colleague's ego/pride made it so he was in constant damage control mode as well as in denial, making excuses for his slip ups, his nonsensical emails, blaming mistakes and misunderstandings on other people, losing his temper, intolerance for things that should be fine, getting overly defensive, etc, etc. Very sad. Any expert qualified to make a diagnosis should already be aware that making a diagnosis on a public figure based only on public statements and who you haven't personally examined contravenes accepted medical ethics; specifically, the so-called Goldwater Rule. There will always be someone who believes that their personal ethics demand that they speak up. Fine, speak up and raise your concerns.
