I'm actually in the middle on this one: as much as I play devils advocate justifying smacking him... in reality... it's not wise.

I feel nothing for the nazi, but the puncher gets himself in a lot of trouble- say nothing about how this could have gone very badly and been much worse aside from current legalities (nazi falls back and hits his nazi head on the ground and is seriously hurt).

If a person's beliefs are damaging to others... they should be challenged on them. And challenges can present themselves in a variety of ways: this idiot has been in many debates and hasn't budged from his position. Words and reasoning- what some seem to be suggesting as the cure- have proven to be toothless.

I don't know what specifically would change him, but I have a strong feeling that if he does change in the future and tells his story about that change, it won't be because he got punched in the face, it will be because of a connection or a relationship to someone.

As a society, I am pretty comfortable with these general guidelines...

Punching black people for being black = not okay

Punching gays for being gay = not okay

Punching Nazis for being Nazis = Just fine

of course and that is how rational people think but there are many irrational people out there and you can't give them such an opening for violence based on twisted beliefs. irrational people can't or won't grasp general guidelines like you have above. it's a slippery slope to allow violence based on one's beliefs.

Had been wondering how it had gone from a porn niche to insult du jour on social media....reading a facebook comment thread about this punch, I was directed to an article describing how it was Spencer.

triggered is an emotional response, instead of intellectual. it's almost like a "gotcha" or "made you look" kind of nonsense. 5th grade is a very accurate assessment.

porn star jenna jameson showed up on my twitter feed over the weekend (i used to follow trump, I deleted him as I couldn't take it anymore), and I noticed she was a trump supporter. I was a bit surprised at this, but I obviously didn't know much about her. I asked a few respectful questions, to which she initially responded, but then I guess she looked at my profile, saw that I was from winnipeg, and said "I see you're from winnipeg. stay out of big boy politics, iceback". And the sheer amount of hate spewing from her followers was amazing. I said nothing disrespectful to her, just asked her if she was ok with his cabinet picks, and I got attacked with a vengeance I couldn't understand.

apparently asking a question and getting mean-spirited responses makes me the snowflake? it doesn't make any fucking sense.

she also tweeted "stop islam". that gave me a bit of a window into her mentality.
