Nope, I never had to do this. Earthquakes yes, Russians no.

You never really had to begin with.

Sometimes it's not the song that makes you emotional it's the people and things that come to your mind when you hear it.

you had to check to see if Maxell or TDK's were on sale.
  • I still remember where the fade out break is to change tracks mid-song (8 track tapes) on some songs. I'm looking at you Pink Floyd and Supertramp.

Many a good song ruined this way.

This! And Herbal Essences. And Gee, Your Hair Smells Terrific.

70's shampoos (and ads) rocked. Tried them all, too.

    that reminds me of this:

my grandfather came to visit from California years ago and he brought a suitcase full of Prell (back when you were allowed up to 2 checked bags and 2 carry-ons) that was his gift for staying with us. I thought it was the best stuff ever.

The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

I loved Prell in its hey-day! Apparently Seinfeld did too =)

People knew the word have followed could, would, should, and might? Seems like that was only a year or two ago, then everyone starting saying "of" instead. :anguished:

    contractions ruined that...

could've, should've, would've...I think then people just assumed the "ve" was "of"

My daughter's 7th grade English teacher does not permit the use of contractions.
    :open_mouth:

Though, I suppose it sets them up for using proper grammar. I remember learning them in 3rd grade...or about then. Now I'm going to be looking out for them in books and articles.
Yeah, but it also might set them up to not know how to use apostrophes? :frowning: The school should be teaching it all.

I agree. When we were in school, they taught us that contractions were a form of informal writing; as among friends, and that it was not proper to write them in formal documents, etc. We were taught the difference.

Dancing to records, and we had to be careful when doing our "Aires above ground" -totally a horse term, but I'm borrowing it, because it closest resembles MY klutzy butt trying to be graceful- or we'd cause the record to skip!

I always liked when Honeycomb had the miniature license plates. I'd hang them from the back of my bike seat.
